Abstract. Fifty each of F2-generation gold ( gg ), bronze ( Gg ), and black ( GG ) Oreochromis mossambicus (Peters) and either zero, four or eight largemouth bass, Micropterus salmoides , (Lacepède) were stocked in 20-m2 concrete tanks. After 7 days, water in all tanks was drained, and fish in each tank were censused. Largemouth bass ate 18% of the tilapia in the four-bass treatment (1 tilapia/bass/day) and 60% of the tilapia in the eight-bass treatment (1·6 tilapia/bass/day); the difference was significant (P=0–05). In the four-bass treatment there was a greater observed mean predation rate on gold than that on black or on bronze tilapia, but the difference was not significant: largemouth bass ate 25% of the gold tilapia, 16% of the bronze tilapia, and 13% of the black tilapia. In the eight-bass treatment, predation on the gold tilapia was significantly greater than that on both bronze (P=0·05) and on black (P=0·06) tilapia; predation on bronze and black tilapia was similar: largemouth bass ate 80% of the gold tilapia, 48% of the bronze tilapia, and 51% of the black tilapia. Overall average total predation (both treatments combined) on gold tilapia was significantly (P=0·06) greater than that on both bronze and on black tilapia, which did not differ: largemouth bass ate 52% of the gold tilapia, 32% of the bronze tilapia, and 32% of the black tilapia. The increased vulnerability of gold tilapia to predation was a negative pleiotropic effect of the gg genotype.  相似文献

The effects of tank color on the growth, stress responses, and skin color of snakeskin gourami (Trichogaster pectoralis) were investigated in this study. Fish with initial body weights of 5.03±0.00 g were reared in five experimental tank colors (white, red, green, blue, and black) for 8 weeks. Each tank color was tested in triplicate with an initial stocking density of 15 fish per tank. Fish were fed with commercial sinking pellets at 4% of the average body weight per day. Growth performance, feed utilization efficiency, stress indicators (hematocrit, blood glucose, plasma cortisol levels), and skin color parameters were investigated. The fish reared in blue tanks had a significantly higher average final body weight (9.73?±?0.14 g) and significantly lower average feed conversion ratio (3.42?±?0.12) than the fish reared in black tanks (P?<?0.05). The fish reared in black tanks exhibited higher average hematocrit (36.63?±?1.11%), blood glucose (48.33?±?1.45 mg dL?1), and plasma cortisol (9.00?±?0.56 μg dL?1) levels than those reared in the other tank colors. However, the blood glucose levels in only the fish reared in black tanks were significantly higher than those in the fish reared in the other tank colors. The fish skin color ranged from very pale (high skin lightness) in the white tanks to very dark (low skin lightness) in the black tanks, and 80% of the variation in skin lightness were explained by the tank lightness. The use of a blue tank resulted in normal skin color; hence, blue tanks will not affect the customer acceptance of the fish. Our study revealed that blue is the most appropriate tank color for culturing snakeskin gourami.  相似文献

ABSTRACT:   Although the bronze featherback Notopterus notopterus is an important fish in South-East Asia, the population structure has not been investigated. In this study, genetic diversity and population structure of the bronze featherback were examined using nucleotide sequence analysis of the mitochondrial DNA control region for 332 fish collected from Tonle Sap Lake and the Mekong River in Cambodia. The average nucleotide diversity (π) of all samples was 0.033, and the Mekong River samples had higher nucleotide diversity (0.034) than Tonle Sap Lake samples (0.028). The nucleotide diversity between the lake and river samples varied from 0.029 to 0.037. The genetic differentiation between the river and lake populations was also supported by the pairwise F -statistic values and hierarchical analysis of molecular variance, indicating that the Tonle Sap Lake population is genetically isolated from the population in main stream of the Mekong River.  相似文献

Abstract. Gold and black Oreochromis mossambicus (Peters) fry were stocked in 0.043-m3 hapas along with early instar dragonfly nymphs to determine the effect of body colour of the tilapia on vuinerability to predation by the insect. Hapas were stocked with either: 10 gold fry, 10 black fry and no dragonfly nymphs (10-10-0); 5 gold fry, 5 black fry and 2 dragonfly nymphs (5-5-2); 10 gold fry, 10 black fry and 2 dragonfly nymphs (10-10-2); or 10 gold fry, 10 black fry and 3 dragonfly nymphs (10-10-3). Four levels of predation were assessed: no predation, 1 dragonfly nymph per 5 fish, 1 per 6.7 fish, and 1 per 10 fish. Hapas were censused daily for 14 days. Fish that had been eaten were replaced with similar-sized fish to restore stocking densities. Average daily predation rate ranged from 0.24 to 3.0 and averaged 1.94 fry/dragonfly nymph/day. Average daily predation rates for all treatments were significantly (P = 0.05) different and were a function of both dragonfly and fish stocking rates. Dragonfly nymphs ate significantly more black fish than gold fish in the 10-10-2 and 10-10-3 treatments: overall (10-10-2, 10-10-3 and 5-5-2 treatments combined), dragonfly nymphs ate significantly more black (324) than gold (245) tilapia. Results from this study indicate that the bright body colour of the gold tilapia does not increase rate of predation by dragonfly nymphs.  相似文献

为筛选刀鲚(Coilia ectenes)生长性状遗传改良的分子遗传标记,基于现有刀鲚转录组数据,利用基因克隆技术获得养殖刀鲚肌肉生长抑制素(myostatin,MSTN)基因的全长序列,采用PCR产物直接测序和SNaPshot技术分别进行基因多态性的筛选和分型,并将不同基因型与刀鲚的生长性状(体长、体高和体质量)进行关联分析。结果显示,养殖刀鲚MSTN基因的DNA序列主要由2个内含子和3个外显子组成,经SNP位点筛选,仅在第1内含子上筛选到2个颠换突变位点(g.564G>T和g.755G>T)和1个转换突变位点(g.786C>T);将3个SNP位点与生长性状进行关联分析发现,SNP位点g.786C>T与刀鲚的体长、体高和体质量呈显著性负相关,具有TT基因型个体的体长、体高和体质量显著低于CC型和CT型(P<0.05),而SNP位点g.564G>T和g.755G>T的不同基因型仅与刀鲚的体高具有一定程度的相关性;3个SNP位点对养殖刀鲚的群体遗传分析显示,刀鲚养殖群体的观测杂合度(H O)、期望杂合度(H E)和多态信息含量(PIC)分别为0.280~0.480、0.332~0.455和0.277~0.351,3个SNP位点均属于中度多态(0.25T有望作为剔除劣质刀鲚繁育亲本的候选分子标记。  相似文献

7种观赏性剑尾鱼的自交、杂交,对其子代的体色(包括眼睛色彩)及鳍形等性状进行统计分析。试验结果表明,黑眼为显性基因控制,红眼为隐性基因控制,体色与眼睛颜色有一定的连锁关系;推测剑尾鱼体色遗传由数量性状基因参与控制;尾鳍燕尾相对于正常尾为显性,而且雄性尾鳍的燕尾和长臀鳍具有连锁性;高背鳍由显性基因控制,正常背鳍由隐性基因控制,拥有正常背鳍的个体,其基因型是隐性纯合,拥有高背鳍的个体,其基因型为杂合,初步推断显性纯合为致死基因型。  相似文献

Abstract – Ecological models for stream fish range in scale from individual fish to entire populations. They have been used to assess habitat quality and to predict the demographic and genetic responses to management or disturbance. In this paper, we conduct the first comprehensive review and synthesis of the vast body of modelling literature on the brown trout, Salmo trutta L., with the aim of developing the framework for a demogenetic model, i.e., a model integrating both population dynamics and genetics. We use a bibliometric literature review to identify two main categories of models: population ecology (including population dynamics and population genetics) and population distribution (including habitat–hydraulic and spatial distribution). We assess how these models have previously been applied to stream fish, particularly brown trout, and how recent models have begun to integrate them to address two key management and conservation questions: (i) How can we predict fish population responses to management intervention? and (ii) How is the genetic structure of fish populations influenced by landscape characteristics? Because salmonid populations tend to show watershed scale variation in both demographic and genetic traits, we propose that models combining demographic, genetic and spatial data are promising tools for improving their management and conservation. We conclude with a framework for an individual‐based, spatially explicit demogenetic model that we will apply to stream‐dwelling brown trout populations in the near future.  相似文献

Straying between wild anadromous salmon populations is a natural process, and it is likely that the amount of gene migration from straying fish results from and reflects coadaptation between local populations. In contrast, introgression from cultured or transplanted fish may be disruptive. Data used to describe the genetic structure of populations usually come from biochemical genetic traits which may not reflect the strong selection that affects life-history characteristics. Simulations of a simple model of populations which included selection, genetic exchange and gene sampling error were conducted to examine the influences of these processes on population structure within the system. Results of these simulations indicate that data from loci not influenced by natural selection may provide a very different picture of population structure than data from loci subject to dispersive selection. Even relatively small decreases in average population fitness (0.0075) that accompany relatively weak selection can produce divergence between populations in the presence of local immigration rates of between 1 and 10%. Because of natural or anthropogenic causes, many population systems may not be in genetic equilibrium. Estimates from these simulations of parameters such as Ne, GST, Nem, and the G-statistic for heterogeneity, which are used to describe population genetic structure, may differ substantially from equilibrium values and from expectations for neutral loci. Statistically significant divergence between populations can occur even in the presence of 10 immigrants per generation. Results of simulations provide a means to examine potential results of introgression of alien fish into natural populations; but without knowing the extent of gene migration which occurs among wild populations and the magnitude of loss in average fitness of populations which results from introgression, it is not possible to predict what the impact will be.  相似文献

The 8‐week experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of partial replacement of fish meal (FM) with soybean protein concentrate (SPC) on juvenile black sea bream, Acanthopagrus schlegelii (10.70 ± 0.04 g). Diets were formulated to replace FM protein by SPC at 0, 8, 16, 24, 32 or 40% (designated as T1, T2, T3, T4, T5 and T6, respectively). Diets except T1 were supplemented with phytase at 2000 phytase activity U kg?1. The results showed that survival rate, growth performance and feed utilization were not significantly affected by increasing dietary SPC. Fish fed diet T3 had higher feed intake compared to those fed T1, T2 and T5 diets. Whole body compositions of black sea bream were significantly influenced by SPC replacing FM except for protein, ash and phosphorus content. Condition factor of fish was significantly lower in T2 than that of fish in T3 group. Apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs) of dry matter was higher in fish fed T6 diet than those of fish fed T1 and T2 diets, ADCs of phosphorus increased with dietary SPC level up to T3 and then decreased. The results obtained in this study indicate that FM protein could be effectively replaced by SPC protein with phytase in diet of black sea bream.  相似文献

Bronze corydoras (Corydoras aeneus) is a small diurnal activity fish from South America. Under hypoxia conditions, it uses the posterior part of the intestine as an accessory respiratory organ. The present PCR studies demonstrated higher expression of HIF-1α (hypoxia-inducible factor) gene in the respiratory than that in digestive part of bronze corydoras intestine. Further, immunolocalization studies using antibodies specific to HIF-1α and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed the presence of HIF-1α epitopes in the intestine of Corydoras aeneus. In the respiratory intestine, the numerous clusters of gold particles visualizing HIF-1α antibody were observed within fibroblasts, whereas in the digestive tract of this species, single gold grains in the epithelial cells were noted. On the other hand, the presence of HIF-1α and the cytoplasmic domain of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in the respiratory intestine of bronze corydoras assumes their interactions in the system where these factors appeared for the first time. The non-obligatory air-breathing fishes using their digestive tract as an accessory respiratory organ during hypoxia conditions are very interesting for the studies of the processes that control HIF-1α expression and squamous cell proliferation.  相似文献

为了解东莞生态园湿地水域群落结构特征,探讨2种类型刺网(沉网和浮网)及不同网目网片渔获物组成的差异性,实验利用多网目(1.0、1.25、1.6、2.0、2.5、3.1、3.9、4.8、5.8、7.0、8.6和11.0 cm)单层刺网对该湿地的鱼类进行了调查。研究期间共采集到13种鱼类,相对重要性指数显示,海南似和莫桑比克罗非鱼为优势种,前者密度最高(占84.8%),后者生物量居多(40.2%)。渔获物物种组成沉浮网间差异显著,但单位努力捕捞数量(NPUE)、单位努力捕获重量(BPUE)及物种数与沉浮网间均无显著差异;海南似的NPUE在2种类型刺网间无显著差异,但莫桑比克罗非鱼和尼罗罗非鱼的NPUE浮网显著低于沉网。12个网目网片的渔获物物种聚成2类,1.0~2.0 cm网目网片渔获物聚为1类,海南似为指示种;2.5~11.0 cm片的聚为另1类,莫桑比克罗非鱼和尼罗罗非鱼为指示种。渔获物大小结构聚为2类,1.0~3.9 cm网目网片渔获物聚为1类,4.8~11.0 cm网目网片的聚为另1类。随着网目大小增加,渔获物平均体长线性递增,NPUE呈幂函数式下降。研究表明,为对内陆水域鱼类群落...  相似文献

ABSTRACT: The chemical components and body color of horse mackerel caught between July 1997 and May 2000 were studied. The fish were caught with small- to medium-sized purse seine offshore from Nagasaki and from Tsushima, and with bull trawl seine and medium- to large-sized purse seine in the East China Sea. The crude lipid content of the fish caught offshore from Tsushima was higher than that of the others, and there were no significant differences among the other catches. The extractive nitrogen content of the fish caught with bull trawl seine was somewhat lower than that of the others. The body colors of the fish differed from those suggested by their common names: Kuroaji (black) , Kiaji (yellow), and Shiroaji (white). The crude lipid content and body color indicated that there was no difference in quality among the catches, with the exception of the crude lipid content of the Tsushima catch.  相似文献

Sex change and the genetic structure of marine fish populations   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The interaction between environmental forces and dispersal characteristics is largely responsible for the patterns of population structure in marine fish. Yet, crucial gaps in knowledge on life-histories and the relative contributions of numerous environmental factors still hinder a thorough understanding of marine population connectivity. One life-history trait so far overlooked by most fish population geneticists is sequential hermaphroditism, whereby individuals first mature as one sex and later in life reverse into the other sex. Population genetic theory predicts that sex-changing fish will present a higher potential for more spatially structured populations than gonochoristic species, as a result of their naturally skewed sex ratio, which is expected to reduce effective population size and hence increase genetic drift. We gathered published data on genetic population structure in marine fish, as summarized by the popular F ST index, and – after controlling for several potentially confounding factors – we tested the hypothesis that sex-changing species are more genetically structured than gonochoristic ones. Although we found no evidence to support the theoretical expectations, our results suggest new working hypotheses that can stimulate new research avenues at the intersection between physiology, genetics and fisheries science.  相似文献

The potential for genetic contamination of stocks arising from translocation and subsequent release or escape of translocated and/or genetically mixed stocks may be a significant risk to wild populations. In this context, we undertook a population genetic survey of stocks of lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) along the Norwegian coast to establish the existing genetic population structure, which will aid the development of policy of the species’ use as cleaner fish in salmonid aquaculture. This was done by using 14 microsatellite loci and 287 specimens collected at five fishing grounds, covering most of the Norwegian coastline from south to north, with additional 18 samples of first-generation reared fish from a fish farm outside Tromsø (North Norway). Overall, there was no indication of significant spatial genetic structuring or of positive correlation between geographic and genetic distance among the wild lumpfish samples. These results suggest that, should translocated individuals escape from aquaculture in Norway, this will probably have little to no impact on the genetic composition of the local fish population.  相似文献

Three single nucleotide polymorphisms, c.1462C > T, c.1663G > T and c.2023G > A, in smad4 gene were isolated and typed in a normal population (meio‐G0), a first‐generation gynogenetic population (meio‐G1) and a second‐generation gynogenetic population (meio‐G2) in topmouth culter (Culter alburnus) by using the tetra‐primer amplification refractory mutation system (ARMS) PCR. The homozygosity of different loci in the three populations was analysed to study the efficiency of gene purification in this fish. Correlation of the three populations to seven growth traits (body length, body weight, body thickness, body height, total length, caudal peduncle length and caudal peduncle height) was estimated. Results showed that homozygosity and homozygosity rates of three SNP loci from meio‐G0 to meio‐G2 increased obviously, and the average homozygosity of c.1462C > T and c.1663G > T loci was 0.930 and 0.880 in meio‐G2 population, which was significantly higher than that in meio‐G0 population. In the meio‐G1 and meio‐G2 populations, correlation of seven growth traits with the CC genotype was significantly higher than that with the TT and TC genotypes in the c.1462C > T locus (p < .05). These results suggested that the CC genotype in the c.1462C > T locus could be an advantage mutation that stably affects the growth of different generations of this fish. It may be used as a potential molecular marker for gene‐assisted selection to improve a range of growth traits in topmouth culter.  相似文献

Growth performances and physiological responses of Cyprinus carpio after long-term (14 weeks) background color adaptation were investigated. Six groups of ten individuals each (initial body weight 116 g) were reared in black, green and white tanks (two replicate groups for each color). At the end of the experiment, blood (cortisol, glucose, haematocrit, cholesterol, triglycerides, total lipids, osmolality, electrolytes, pCO2, pH), liver (total lipids, glycogen, hepatosomatic index) and growth (body weight, specific growth rate, food conversion ratio, condition factor, proximate carcass composition) parameters were determined. Plasma cortisol levels in white-adapted carp were significantly (P<0.05) lower than those in black, while in green-adapted fish did not differ significantly from those in both other counterparts. White-adapted carp showed the highest specific growth rate and the lowest food conversion ratio, whereas black-adapted fish exhibited the opposite pattern. In addition, mean (%) increase of body weight in white-adapted carp was 4.66 and 3.58% higher than that in black- and green-adapted fish, respectively. Furthermore in white-adapted carp, blood pCO2 and pH were significantly higher and lower, respectively, than those obtained in black- and green-adapted fish. In black-adapted carp, liver total lipid levels were significantly lower, and plasma total lipid levels were significantly higher, than those in white- and green-adapted fish. No significant variations were observed in the other parameters. It is concluded that different background colors may lead to different growth performances of scaled carp depending upon rearing conditions.  相似文献

Advancements in gene technology in recent years have been driving the aquaculture industry forward. Improvements in growth performance, feed efficiency, and omega‐3 content are goals of the industry that could capitalize on applications of genetic engineering. One of the major challenges in the industry is to reduce the use of fish meal and oil, to improve the environmental and economic sustainability of aquaculture. The recent development of genetically engineered feed ingredients is one potential solution to the looming problem of fish meal and oil dependency. Furthermore, the development of transgenic fish has potential to improve production efficiency and other future desirable characteristics that relate to feed utilization and product quality. New gene technologies are beginning to revolutionize how we produce our food, and in aquaculture, will ultimately reduce pressure on wild fish stocks, help to preserve natural aquatic ecosystems, and improve nutritional profiles of farmed fish for human consumption. The purpose of this review is to provide an update on the current applications of genetic engineering technology to improve aquaculture through nutrition, including the development and use of transgenic feed ingredients, transgenic fish, and ultimately their impacts on nutrition, product quality, and consumers.  相似文献
