Three reproductively quiescent female emus (Dromaius novaehollandiae) were embalmed with 10% formalin solution. The reproductive tract was dissected and described. The reproductive tract consists of an ovary and oviduct situated on the left side of the abdominal cavity. The left ovary is dark brown to black in colour with follicles covering the ventral surface. The ovary is located medial to the spleen and closely associated with the ventral surface of the cranial and middle lobes of the left kidney. The oviduct is a relatively straight tube that extends from the level of the cranial extent of the left ilium to the caudal border of the left pubic bone. The oviduct is grossly divided into the infundibulum, magnum, isthmus, uterus and vagina using variations in the mucosal fold pattern.  相似文献

Studies were made on the distribution of lymphoid tissues and immunoglobulin (Ig: IgA, IgG and IgM)-containing cells (cIg: cIgA, cIgG and cIgM) and the localization of immunoglobulins (Igs) in the oviducal walls of laying hens. Lymphocyte accumulations were occasionally observed, located mainly in the middle infundibulum and in the regions from the isthmus to the vagina. The number of cIgG significantly predominated over that of cIgA or cIgM in the mucosal connective tissue of the magnum and the isthmus. In contrast, in the regions other than the magnum and the isthmus, these three types of cIg were fewer in number. Igs were localized in some superficial epithelial cells (SECs) and glandular cells (GlCs) of the oviduct. Many IgG-containing SECs were found in the infundibulum, the isthmus, and the cranial and major uterus. IgA- or IgM-containing SECs were rare throughout the oviduct. Three types of Ig-containing GlCs were numerously found in the magnum, though lymphocyte accumulations were scarce there. In the isthmus, many IgG-containing GlCs were found, while IgA- or IgM-containing GlCs were rarely observed. Ig-containing GlCs in the magnum were considerably decreased in number after the egg passage. The results suggest that the maternal Igs are transferred to the egg mainly through GlCs in the magnum of the chicken oviduct, and that the oviducal lymphoid tissues have little relationship to the passive immunity.  相似文献

This study describes the distribution of vimentin, desmin, smooth muscle actin (SMA) and laminin in the oviduct of the laying domestic fowl. Vimentin immunostaining was localised in the luminal epithelium of the infundibulum, magnum, magnum–isthmus junction and isthmus. The luminal epithelium of the shell gland regions displayed weak vimentin immunostaining. Vimentin immunostaining was demonstrated in the glandular grooves of the tubular infundibular region. In contrast, gland cells in the magnum, isthmus and shell gland regions were vimentin immunonegative. Fibroblasts and vascular endothelial cells in the lamina propria of the oviductal regions studied exhibited vimentin immunostaining. Strong desmin and SMA immunostaining were present in the smooth muscle cells of the tunica muscularis and vascular tunica media. In this study, basement membranes underlying the luminal and glandular epithelia were immunopositive for laminin. In addition, basement membranes associated with smooth muscle cells exhibited laminin immunostaining. The results of the study indicate that the immunolocalisation of desmin, SMA and laminin in the oviduct of the domestic fowl is similar to that in the mammalian uterus. The immunolocalisation of vimentin in the domestic fowl varies depending on the oviductal region.  相似文献

采用大体解剖学方法,观察了20羽北京鸭输卵管血管分布。结果表明:北京鸭输卵管动脉有输卵管前、中、后动脉和阴道动脉;输卵管静脉通常与同名动脉伴行,但缺输卵管后静脉,这些血管均位于鸭体左侧。输卵管前动脉一般有1条,起始于左髂外动脉的耻动脉,分布于输卵管漏斗部和膨大部;输卵管中动脉起于左肾后动脉,主要分布于输卵管峡部和子宫前部;输卵管后动脉起始于左髂内动脉或左阴部外动脉,主要供应子宫后部的血液;阴道动脉起于左阴部内动脉,分布于阴道部。  相似文献

A biometrical study of the reproductive tracts of 173 hens was carried out after slaughter at 53 weeks of age.

Mean weights and total lengths of the reproductive tracts of four strains of actively laying turkey hens were 265 - 279.5 grams and 80.9 - 84.5 centimetres. Mean measurements in centimetres of oviduct anatomical divisions were: infundibulum 10.9 - 11.7, magnum 44.5 - 45.2, isthmus 12.6 - 14.5, uterus 9.6 - 10.8, and vagina 2.6 - 3.5.

Glycosylation of the reproductive tract of an adult female red-necked ostrich (Struthio camelus camelus) carrying a fully formed calcified egg in her uterus when accidently killed by a blow to the head was examined using lectin histochemistry on samples from the infundibulum, magnum, uterus and vagina. Glycans in the luminal epithelium and underlying glands were described after staining with 23 lectins after neuraminidase pre-treatment in some cases. Ciliated and non-ciliated cells were evident at all levels in the luminal epithelium, the latter full of richly glycosylated secretory granules. The ciliated cells also showed glycosylation and, in the magnum, these cells often stained more intensely than the non-ciliated cells. High mannose and complex N-glycans, α1,6-linked fucosyl and sialic acid residues were present throughout the tract and there was a complete absence of GalNAcα1,3(LFucα1,2)Galß1,3/4GlcNAcß1- and rare terminal GalNAcα1- residues. Fucose in α1,2-linkage as H2 antigen and Ley was also rare in the luminal epithelium and completely absent in glands. Terminal galactose was present in the luminal epithelium apart from in the infundibulum. Gland epithelium showed similar glycosylation to the luminal epithelium except in the magnum where there were significant differences and here the glands were packed full of large secretory granules, unlike the glands in the rest of the tract. Each section of the tract had its own specific pattern of glycosylation which could be related to the stage of egg formation.  相似文献

Due to its importance in many physiological processes such as cell proliferation and differentiation, vitamin A plays a key role in reproduction. The present study examines the content and distribution of retinol and retinyl esters in the blood plasma, liver, kidney, ovary and oviduct (infundibulum, magnum, isthmus and uterus) of the laying Japanese quail. (1) The results show that the stage of egg laying had no influence on the level of vitamin A (retinol or retinyl esters) in plasma, kidney and liver. (2) The results further indicate that in the oviduct there are quantitative and qualitative differences in the concentration of retinol and retinyl esters, but that these differences are not altered by the stage of egg formation. (3) The highest levels of vitamin A in the isthmus and uterus were associated with a predominance of retinyl esters (palmitate and stearate); sections with lower total levels of vitamin A (infundibulum, magnum) had retinol as the more dominant form of vitamin A. (4) Changes in the ratio of retinol to retinyl esters in the various sections of the avian oviduct might point to metabolic differences. The storage of vitamin A might therefore be the predominant function of the uterus and isthmus; in the infundibulum and magnum, where vitamin A is predominantly present as retinol, vitamin A serves rather as a precursor for the modulation of the cellular metabolism of these structures.  相似文献

1. Our aim was to determine the presence and numbers of immunocompetent cells in the oviduct of laying and moulting hens. Immunocompetent cells were localised by immunocytochemistry throughout the entire length of the oviduct.

2. In laying birds, MHC class II + cells were observed in the subepithelial and middle part of the stroma of all oviducal segments and the mucosal epithelium of the infundibulum and vagina. CD3 + cells were also localised in subepithelial and middle part of stroma as well as in mucosal epithelium of each oviducal segment. Bu‐lb + and IgG + cells were also observed in the epithelium and subepithelial and middle part of the stroma of all oviducal segments, though stroma of the magnum, isthmus and uterus contained few Bu‐lb + cells. IgA + cells were observed only in the mucosal epithelium of the magnum in small numbers.

3. In moulting hens, there were few numbers of immunocompetent cells in the mucosal epithelium of each oviducal segment, although CD3 + cells were observed in the infundibulum and vagina. In the subepithelial stroma, the populations of MHC class II + cells in the infundibulum, magnum and uterus, CD3 + cells in the infundibulum and vagina, as well as IgG + cells in each oviducal segment except for isthmus were smaller than in laying hens. In contrast, the number of immunocompetent cells in the middle part of stroma of moulting hens were equal to or greater than in laying hens.

4. These results suggest that the oviducal immune function is active in the surface tissues of the mucosa in laying hens, whereas it is reduced in moulting hens.  相似文献

The infundibulum and magnum of the oviduct were examined in hens in full lay which were infected with two Australian strains of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV). The ultramicroscopic changes in the infundibulum and magnum were compared with control hens which had eggs at different positions in the oviduct. The ciliated and granular cells of the surface epithelia and secretory epithelial cells of the tubular glands were the target cells of IBV. No pathological changes were recorded during 2-8 days post-infection (p.i.). Patchy loss of cilia occurred at 10-14 days p.i. Between 16 and 24 days p.i., there was no cilia loss and lymphoid nodules were observed in the muscularis layer of the infundibulum and magnum of some hens from both infected groups. Virus particles were detected mostly in the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) and Golgi complex between 10 and 12 days p.i. Cytopathology was noticed in various cell organelles between the 10th and 14th days p.i. There was an increase in RER deposits in infected cells, irrespective of egg position in the oviduct. The magnum was more affected than the infundibulum. Cellular changes were more severe in the infundibulum and magnum of T-infected hens as compared to N1/88-infected hens. Eggs with watery whites which were laid by infected hens could be attributed to cytopathological changes in the granular epithelial cells and tubular gland epithelial cells of the magnum resulting in reduced synthesis of albumen proteins. IBV can cause pathology in parts of the fully functional oviduct which may persist up to the 30th day p.i. However, both the challenge strains of IBV can cause a small number of hens to cease production. Loss of cilia in both the infundibulum and magnum pose a potential threat of secondary bacterial infection and also may affect fertility in breeder hens.  相似文献

Morphohistological features of the tubular organs of the Myocastor coypus (coypu) female reproductive tract were studied. Specimens came from breeding farms with yard breeding systems. The analysis of the organs was made by histological methods and by macro and microscopic measurement techniques. The animals showed oviducts with macro and microscopically differentiable regions. Their mucosa showed primary branched folds in the ampullar sector. In the rest of the oviduct tract these folds were only of the primary type. The double uterus showed regional variations in the lumen, endometrial glands along the whole surface and a wide fibromuscular cervix with pseudoglands. The endocervical mucosa made clear a complex system of folds covered by a mucus-secreting epithelium. In the long vagina of the coypu a folded, rugose and irregular mucosa was observed.  相似文献

In 13 anaesthetized hens in the peak phase of their first laying year the influence of intravenously injected substance P (SP), 1–10 g/animal, on oviductal pressure, duodenal pressure, blood pressure and heart rate has been studied within 5 h of oviposition. The neuropeptide induced a significant pressure increase in the different segments of the oviduct (infundibulum, magnum, isthmus, uterus and vagina) as well as in the duodenum. Blood pressure revealed a distinct biphasic response: a short period of hypotension accompanied by a tachycardia and a more pronounced and sustained hypertension, inducing a subsequent bradycardia. The complexity of the observed effects demonstrates the overall impact of intravenously administered SP on the anaesthetized hen.  相似文献

The present study investigated the distribution of nerves in the oviduct of the sexually immature ostrich. The presence of protein gene product 9.5, neurofilament protein and neuron specific enolase nerve fibres were demonstrated in the infundibulum, magnum, isthmus, shell gland and vagina. Nerve fibres containing protein gene product 9.5, neuron specific enolase and neurofilament protein were particularly numerous in the tunica muscularis and intermuscular connective tissue areas of the shell gland and vagina. The presence of a large number of nerves in these oviductal regions is probably important in the coordination of muscle contraction. An interesting finding of the study was the presence of protein gene product 9.5 and neuron specific enolase immunopositive nerve fibres in the walls of blood vessels. It is likely that these nerves are autonomicin nature and play a role in the regulation of blood flow. This study has shown the presence of an extensive neural network in the oviduct of the ostrich. In addition, the results of the investigation have shown that the neuronal markers protein gene product 9.5, neurofilament protein and neuron specific enolase can be used to demonstate nerve fibres in the ostrich.  相似文献

In the present study the distribution of large granular lymphocytes (LGLs) and influence of oestrogen on these cells was investigated in the oviduct of chickens by the observation of H and E stained sections. 2. The LGLs first appeared in the oviduct at 9 weeks and their frequency of occurrence increased with age and was highest in the infundibulum and vagina from 21 to 32 weeks of age. The frequency of occurrence of LGLs from magnum to uterus (glandular part) was low. These cells were located at the base, middle and apical parts of the lining epithelium as well as in the sperm-storage glandular epithelium. 3. When chickens of 21 weeks were treated with DES, LGLs abundantly infiltrated in the oviducal epithelium in comparison to the control. 4. These results suggested that the development of LGLs in the oviduct of chickens correlates with oestrogen secretion.  相似文献

1. Sixty‐three female guinea fowl were examined macro‐scopically and microscopically for the presence of right oviducts. One bird had a right oviduct that measured 105 mm in length and weighed 1.85 g.

2. The lumen of the oviduct was patent as far as the caudal one‐third of the vagina, but had no opening into the cloaca.

3. The uterus submucosa had no tubular glands and the sperm host glands were absent in the vagina. Fat cell deposits were prominent between the muscular layers of the caudal vagina.  相似文献

The cranial chamber (proventriculus) and caudal chamber (ventriculus) of the stomach of the Red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus spadiceus) were examined by means of light microscopy. Both chambers presented folds of the tunica mucosa lined by a simple prismatic epithelium that was positive for neutral mucin. Simple tubular glands occupied the lamina propria of both chambers; in the ventriculus of older birds, they showed a coiled base. These ventricular glands were lined by simple cuboidal cells represented by the chief cells and a few large basal cells. The luminal and tubular koilin rodlets and folds of the ventriculus were positive to periodic acid Schiff (PAS) stain. The proventricular glands were situated between the inner and outer layers of the lamina muscularis mucosae. Cells lining the tubulo-alveolar units of the proventricular glands showed a dentate appearance. Vacuoles were not observed, and the cells were negative for Alcian-PAS stain. The tunica submucosa was very thin in the proventricular wall. In the ventriculus, it was not separated from the lamina propria owing to the absence of any lamina muscularis mucosae. The tunica muscularis of the proventriculus was formed by a thick inner layer of circular smooth muscle fibres and a thin outer layer of longitudinal fibres. In addition to these layers, oblique muscle fibres formed the most internal layer of the tunica muscularis in the ventriculus.  相似文献

The histological and histochemical structures of the proventriculus of starling (Sturnus vulgaris) were examined using haematoxylin and eosin and special staining, that is periodic acid schiff (PAS), Masson's trichrome, Alcian blue, Orcein and Reticulin. All three cranial, middle and caudal parts of the proventriculus were also studied. The study results showed that the wall of the proventriculus consisted of mucosal, submucosal, muscular and serosal tunics. The mucosal tunic presented folds and sulci on its luminal surface. In the first third of the proventriculus, the tunica mucosa characterized by presence of folds lined by stratified squamous epithelium and presence of simple tubular glands in the lamina propria. In the middle and caudal thirds of the proventriculus, the surface was covered by a columnar epithelium, and the branched tubular glands were extended through the lamina propria. From the base of the branched tubular glands, the deep proventricular glands were observed that were compound tubuloalveolar lobules. The surface epithelium of the tunica mucosa and the cells lining the proventricular glands showed a positive reaction to PAS and Alcian blue stainings. In addition, the epithelial cells of the tubular and branched tubular glands showed Masson's trichrome-positive reaction. The submucosal tunic was thin in the proventricular wall. The tunica muscularis was formed by a thin inner layer of longitudinal smooth muscle fibres and a thick outer layer of circular fibres. The serosa consisted of loose connective tissue, rich in blood vessels and covered by mesothelium.  相似文献

应用光镜和电镜技术,系统观察雌性中华鳖输卵管精子储存情况,显示与精子储存有关组织结构与细胞形态。结果表明,精子储存在雌性中华鳖输卵管的蛋白分泌部后部至子宫部,但各段的组织结构及精子储存量存在一定差别。蛋白分泌部后部上皮较发达,由典型的高柱状纤毛细胞和分泌细胞构成,固有膜中腺体多为泡状腺。上皮和腺体中含有大量高密度的膜性分泌颗粒,此段只有少量的精子储存。峡部较窄且固有膜内无腺体,上皮排列紧密并呈迷路样迂回分布,上皮细胞内高电子密度分泌颗粒成团集中分布在核上方。峡部管腔中分布着大量的精子,靠近管腔的精子或精子头部嵌入上皮纤毛之间或顶端凹陷的胞质中,且精子嵌入部分的细胞结构保持完整。子宫前部形成垂直于管腔的储精小管(SST),子宫上皮及此段SST上皮的分泌颗粒电子密度不均,含高密度电子致密斑,腺体中的分泌颗粒也呈现不同的内部结构。子宫部及SST的管腔中储存有大量精子。这些区段复杂的细胞结构及分泌活动,可能在精子储存中发挥重要作用。  相似文献

A three-dimensional model has not been clearly established for the porcine oviductal mucosa. The oviducts of 12 cyclic sows were examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy to study the structure and nature of the mucosal arrangement of the oviduct. Epithelial cyclic changes were also studied. The oviductal infundibulum is an asymmetric funnel-shaped structure surrounding the ostium, in which a wide and a narrow side can be distinguished. The mucosa is more complex in the narrow side, showing numerous and tortuous longitudinal primary folds, while the mucosa becomes simpler in the wide side. Around the ostium abdominale wide secondary folds form cul-de-sacs, with their opening pointing in ovarian direction. Areas between folds throughout the lumen of the oviduct show a high-degree of complexity. Inter-fold spaces are occupied by a system of irregular grooves and pockets, with the presence of basal crypts in the caudal oviduct. Marked variations were observed in the oviductal epithelium depending on the oviductal segment, basal or apical areas of the folds, and phase of the oestrous cycle. Cyclical changes were observed in the infundibulum and ampulla, so that prominent and numerous ciliated cells lined apical areas of the folds in the follicular phase; whereas secretary cells were predominant throughout all areas of epithelial surface in the luteal phase. The oestrous cycle phase appeared do not affect the epithelial population cells of the caudal segments of the oviduct: ciliated and secretory cells uniformly lined apical and basal areas of the folds. The topography of the oviduct provides a complex system of regulation, which may influence not only the passage of cells, but also movement of fluid within the oviductal canal.  相似文献

应用组织学方法观察了雌性空怀双峰驼生殖道的形态结构。结果显示,双峰驼生殖道的基本结构与其他哺乳动物相似,但微细结构有差异。双峰驼输卵管粘膜皱襞极其发达,分支多而呈复杂的网状迷路。皱襞基部的迷路酷似固有膜而存在腺体,迷路网格内常见细胞团块。虽然双峰驼怀孕时胎儿位于左侧子宫角,但左、右子宫角以及子宫体的组织结构基本相同。子宫内膜无肉阜,上皮下陷于固有膜内,形成大量长而弯曲的单管状腺。子宫颈固有膜浅层分布有许多小腺体,深层分布有成群的较大腺体。这些腺体为分支管状腺,腺上皮PAS强阳性。阴道粘膜上皮为复层上皮。从输卵管到阴道,粘膜上皮主要为单层柱状上皮,由纤毛细胞和分泌细胞组成,局部可见假复层柱状纤毛上皮。纤毛细胞由前向后逐渐减少,但在子宫颈仍可见到。粘膜上皮和腺上皮内夹有许多淋巴细胞或中性粒细胞,后段局部甚至见到这些免疫细胞浸润于上皮细胞间。固有膜内分布有大量淋巴细胞、中性粒细胞、肥大细胞、浆细胞和巨噬细胞,有时出现淋巴滤泡。  相似文献
