| Abstract: | Blood samples from Chinese native pigs(Erhualian,Fengjing,Jiaxinghei,Meishan,Jiangquhai)and foreign pigs(Large Yorkshire and Landrace)were cultured and stained insilver nitrate to study the number and distribution of their Ag-NOR and silver staining associations.The results were as follows:(1)The mean numbers of Ag-NOR per cell for Erhualian,Fengjing,Jiaxinghei,Meishan,Jiangquhai,Large Yorkshire and Landrace were 3.68,3.65,3.61,3.50,3.23,2.15 and 2.01 respectively,and the frequency of silver staining association were 0.74%,0.50%,2.82%,4.40%,2.27%,0.28% and 2.80% respectively.(2)Erhualian,Fengjing,Jiaxinghei andMeishan clustered together earlier compared with other breeds,providing an evidence that the fourtypes of pigs can be classified into one breed called Taihu.It is suggested that as a genetic remarker,Ag-NOR is of breed characteristic,and can be used to study pig origin and breed classification. |
