This study evaluated the effects of dietary supplementation of organic acids blend (OAB) alone or in combination with essential oil, Lippia origanoides (OAE) for Nile tilapia fed supplemented diets for 30 days. Fish (1.1 ± 0.04 g) were fed control (Control), or OAB 0.5% or OAB 0.5% + essential oil 0.125% (OAE) respectively. At the end of the experiment, samples were collected for de hemato‐immunological, histological analysis of the intestine and liver, as well as microbiology of the intestine. The pH of the diets supplemented with OAB and OAE reduced 0.92 and 0.19 respectively. The growth and FCR were unaffected by the treatments, but survival was significantly higher in the OAB treatment. Fish fed the OAB diet showed reduced concentration of total heterotrophic bacteria and Pseudomonas sp. in the intestine. Increased glucose in fish fed OAB and high number of circulating monocytes in fish fed OAE diet were observed. The anterior intestine of fish fed OAE diet showed larger number of goblet cells and increased villi height. The diet supplemented with OAB, mainly, improved the intestinal health and survival of tilapia juveniles and can be used in juvenile production.  相似文献

A key question in evolutionary genetics is whether shared genetic mechanisms underlie the independent evolution of similar phenotypes across phylogenetically divergent lineages. Here we show that in two classic examples of melanic plumage polymorphisms in birds, lesser snow geese (Anser c. caerulescens) and arctic skuas (Stercorarius parasiticus), melanism is perfectly associated with variation in the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) gene. In both species, the degree of melanism correlates with the number of copies of variant MC1R alleles. Phylogenetic reconstructions of variant MC1R alleles in geese and skuas show that melanism is a derived trait that evolved in the Pleistocene.  相似文献

Context

Point based measurements provide only a limited overview of landscape variation in measured properties. Upscaling of measurements from point to landscape comes with challenges particularly considering error propagation.

Objectives

We investigated the impact of using proximal derived measurements of soil total carbon taken at point locations on upscaling to landscape levels.

Methods

1087 soil samples across Florida, USA were collected, laboratory (LAB) analysed for total carbon (TC), and then measured using visible-/near-infrared (VNIR) spectroscopy. Proximal TC values were generated through chemometric modelling using random forest (RF) and partial least squares (PLS) regression. These three datasets were then upscaled to the State of Florida, USA using ordinary kriging and compared.

Results

R2 (RPD) values for the PLS and RF chemometric models were 88% (2.96) and 91% (3.23), respectively. All 3 spatial models had an accuracy of 54% on an independent validation dataset, with greater than 70% accuracy if predicted values were considered within the interpolation variance range. When comparing spatial interpolations derived from the proximally measured samples, only 18% of the PLS versus 51% of the RF fell within a range of 0.05 logTC (g kg?1) of the LAB measured interpolations.

Conclusions

Using proximal sampling and modelling provides comparable output to laboratory measured soil TC measurements at point level, but when upscaled to landscape level the selection of proximal modelling method will impact the spatial interpolations derived. The error propagation within sequential modelling must be considered particularly when one wishes to use sequential modelling to analyse change in environmental properties.

Pyrenopeziza brassicae causes leaf spot disease of Brassicaceae in Europe/Oceania (lineage 1) and North America (lineage 2). In Europe, fungicides currently used for disease management are sterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51) inhibitors (azoles), quinone outside inhibitors (QoIs), and succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors (SDHIs); methyl benzimidazole carbamates (MBCs) are no longer applied. In this study, in vitro screening revealed European populations (collected 2018–2020) had shifted towards decreased azole sensitivity, but the North American population (2014–2016) was highly sensitive. Genotyping revealed CYP51 substitutions G460S or S508T were prevalent in European populations, often with a CYP51 promoter insert. Compared to wildtype CYP51 isolates, those with G460S plus an insert (44/46/151/210/302 bp) were c.25–32-fold and c.50-fold less sensitive to tebuconazole and prochloraz, respectively; those with S508T plus an insert (44/46/151/233 bp) were c.9–15-fold and c.25–40-fold less sensitive to tebuconazole and prochloraz, respectively. Selection for G460S (quantified via pyrosequencing) under different fungicide regimes was investigated in UK field trials, but G460S levels were high (c.76%) before treatment, so further selection during the trials was unclear. Despite the high G460S frequency and low disease pressure, yield data indicated measurable benefit for both azole- and non-azole-based programmes. In vitro screening against the MBC carbendazim showed European populations were predominantly moderately resistant/resistant; the North American population was sensitive. European and North American populations were sensitive to QoI (pyraclostrobin) and SDHI (penthiopyrad) fungicides. Results support an azole plus QoI/SDHI mixing partner for robust disease control and decreased risk of resistance, with continued sensitivity monitoring to ensure optimal strategies are deployed.  相似文献

Fungicides have not been effective in controlling the wheat blast disease in Brazil. An earlier analysis of 179 isolates of Pyricularia oryzae Triticum lineage (PoTl) sampled from wheat fields across six populations in central-southern Brazil during 2012 discovered a high level of resistance to strobilurin fungicides. Here we analysed azole resistance in the same strains based on EC50 measurements for tebuconazole and epoxiconazole. All six Brazilian populations of PoTl exhibited high resistance to both azoles, with in vitro EC50 values that were at least 35 to 50 times higher than the recommended field doses. We sequenced the CYP51A and CYP51B genes to determine if they were likely to play a role in the observed azole resistance. Although we found five distinct haplotypes in PoTl carrying four nonsynonymous substitutions in CYP51A, none of these substitutions were correlated with elevated EC50. CYP51B was sequenced for nine PoTl isolates, three each representing low, medium, and high tebuconazole EC50. Both PoTl CYP51A and CYP51B could complement yeast CYP51 function. All PoTl CYP51A-expressing yeast transformants were less sensitive to triazoles than the PoTl CYP51B ones. Transformants expressing PoTl CYP51A haplotype H1 carrying the R158K substitution were not more resistant than those expressing PoTl CYP51A haplotype H5, which is synonymous to haplotype H6, found in triazole-sensitive P. oryzae Oryza isolates from rice blast. Therefore, the reduced triazole sensitivity of wheat blast isolates compared to rice blast isolates appears to be associated with a non-target-site related resistance mechanism acquired after higher exposure to triazoles.  相似文献

Wheat blast is one of the most important and devastating fungal diseases of wheat in South America, South-east Asia, and now in southern Africa. The disease can reduce grain yield by up to 70% and is best controlled using integrated disease management strategies. The difficulty in disease management is compounded by the lack of durable host resistance and the ineffectiveness of fungicide sprays. New succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) fungicides were recently introduced for the management of wheat diseases. Brazilian field populations of the wheat blast pathogen Pyricularia oryzae Triticum lineage (PoTl) sampled from different geographical regions in 2012 and 2018 were shown to be resistant to both QoI (strobilurin) and DMI (azole) fungicides. The main objective of the current study was to determine the SDHI baseline sensitivity in these populations. Moderate levels of SDHI resistance were detected in five out of the six field populations sampled in 2012 and in most of the strains isolated in 2018. No association was found between target site mutations in the sdhB, sdhC, and sdhD genes and the levels of SDHI resistance, indicating that a pre-existing resistance mechanism not associated with target site mutations is probably present in Brazilian wheat blast populations.  相似文献
