Successful treatment of Sarcoptes scabiei in a 33‐year‐old pony with underlying pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction

A pony presented with a severe, chronic dermatitis around the ears, neck and trunk of the body, hind quarters and ventral abdomen. The pony was intensely pruritic as was an in‐contact pony and both owners. A superficial skin scraping demonstrated multiple living mites, identified as Sarcoptes scabiei. Equine pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction (PPID) was diagnosed as an underlying, potentially immunosuppressive disorder. The pony was treated for Sacroptes scabiei as well as PPID and is doing well 2 months after initial presentation.     

薰衣草叶螨药剂防治筛选试验

为害新疆伊犁薰衣草的主要是土耳其斯坦叶螨(Tetranychus turkestani),通过(240克/升)螺螨酯(4000倍液)、3.2%阿维菌素乳油(3000倍液)、16%四螨.哒螨灵可湿性粉剂(1600倍液)、73%炔螨特乳油(2500倍液)、0.6％苦参碱水剂(1000倍液)5种药剂防治试验,药后1天、3天,3.2%阿维菌素防效最高,达到80.02%和90.30%；药后7天,螺螨酯防效最高,为91.85%；药后15天,螺螨酯防效较好,为95.23%。螺螨酯、阿维菌素、四螨.哒螨灵、炔螨特在0.05显著水平和0.01极显著水平均无显著差异,且最高防治效果均大于85%,建议交替使用。     

巨无敌兼治园林蚜虫、螨类药效试验

多种药剂的室内、室外和生产防治试验表明，37％巨无敌乳油是一种兼治蚜虫、螨类的安全、经济、高效、低毒农药。另外，对蚜虫、螨类的防治时机、药剂的喷洒浓度进行了研究。     

Common allergens of atopic dermatitis in dogs: comparative findings based on intradermal tests

Intradermal tests were performed on 58 dogs diagnosed with atopic dermatitis from 2004~2008 at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Konkuk University, Korea. To compare the allergen distribution observed in the present investigation to the results from other studies conducted in Korea and elsewhere, the allergens were grouped according to their kinds. There was no significant difference in gender distribution among the dogs. The most common breeds among the 58 dogs were Maltese (n = 11) and Shih-tzu (n = 11). The average age was 4.8 years. The most frequently produced a positive reaction on the intradermal tests was mold (67.3%) followed by house dust (54.5%) and house dust mites (49.1%). The present study found a low distribution of dogs allergic to various outdoor allergens compared to studies performed in other countries; this may reflect differences in living conditions for dogs living in Korea.
