Three-spined stickleback Gasterosteus aculeatus, males were implanted with Silastic capsules filled with different aromatase
inhibitors; 1,4,6-androstatriene-3,17-dione or the non-steroidal CGS16949 A, 4-(5,6,7,8-tetrahydrimidazol [1,5-a]pyridin-5-yl)
benzonitrile monohydrochloride or empty capsules. The fish were then exposed to long or short photoperiod. Under the long
photoperiod most fish in all treatments displayed a hypertrophied kidney (a secondary sexual character in sticklebacks) and
completed, quiescent spermatogenesis, similar as in the natural spawning period. Under the short photoperiod the controls
had unstimulated kidneys and an active spermatogenesis, whereas the males implanted with both aromatase inhibitors had stimulated
kidneys, though not to the extent as in the long photoperiod, and completed, quiescent spermatogenesis. These findings suggest
that aromatization is of importance for the inhibitory effects of short photoperiod on reproduction in the stickleback.

Nitrification inhibition of soil and applied fertilizer N is desirable as the accumulation of nitrates in soils in excess
of plant needs leads to enhanced N losses and reduced fertilizer N-use efficiency. In a growth chamber experiment, we studied
the effects of two commercial nitrification inhibitors (NIs), 4-amino 1,2,4-triazole (ATC) and dicyandiamide (DCD), and a
commonly available and economical material, encapsulated calcium carbide (CaC2) (ECC) on the nitrification of soil and applied NH4
+-N in a semiarid subtropical Tolewal sandy loam soil under upland [60% water-filled pore space (WFPS)] and flooded conditions
(120% WFPS). Nitrification of the applied 100 mg NH4
+-N kg–1 soil under upland conditions was retarded most effectively (93%) by ECC for up to 10 days of incubation, whereas for longer
periods, ATC was more effective. After 20 days, only 16% of applied NH4
+-N was nitrified with ATC as compared to 37% with DCD and 98% with ECC. Under flooded soil conditions, nitrates resulting
from nitrification quickly disappeared due to denitrification, resulting in a tremendous loss of fertilizer N (up to 70% of
N applied without a NI). Based on four indicators of inhibitor effectiveness, namely, concentration of NH4
+-N and NO3
–-N, percent nitrification inhibition, ratio of NH4
+-N/NO3
–-N, and total mineral N, ECC showed the highest relative efficiency throughout the 20-day incubation under flooded soil conditions.
At the end of the 20-day incubation, 96%, 58% and 38% of applied NH4
+-N was still present in the soil where ECC, ATC and DCD were used, respectively. Consequently, nitrification inhibition of
applied fertilizer N in both arable crops and flooded rice systems could tremendously minimize N losses and help enhance fertilizer
N-use efficiency. These results suggest that for reducing the nitrification rate and resultant N losses in flooded soil systems
(e.g. rice lowlands), ECC is more effective than costly commercial NIs.

改性尿素硝酸铵溶液调控氮素挥发和淋溶的研究 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
为了提高肥料的利用率,以尿素硝酸铵溶液为原料、聚氨酸为保护剂,复合抑制剂NBPT(N-丁基硫代磷酰三胺)和DMPP(3,4-二甲基吡唑磷酸盐)为材料,开发出改性尿素硝酸铵溶液(YUL1和YUL2),研究其对华北平原夏玉米追肥过程中的氨挥发和淋溶损失的调控效果。田间试验设置6个处理:不施氮肥(CK)、农民习惯追施尿素(CN)、优化追施尿素(CNU)、优化追施尿素硝酸铵溶液(UAN)、优化追施改性尿素硝酸铵溶液(YUL1)和优化追施改性尿素硝酸铵溶液(YUL2)。采用扫描电镜和能谱仪分析相关指标变化,在夏玉米喇叭口期追施氮肥后15d内进行田间原位连续动态观测氨挥发和土壤铵态氮和硝态氮变化,并在玉米成熟期测定产量,计算经济效益。结果表明,改性尿素硝酸铵溶液清澈无杂质,流延后成膜表面光滑、致密,抑制剂在膜表面分布均匀;能谱测试膜层表面磷硫含量增高,证明复合抑制剂与尿素硝酸铵溶液达到有效融合。在同等优化施氮量下:与CNU相比, YUL1氨挥发总量显著降低19.3%, YUL2增加9.6%;与UAN相比, YUL1、YUL2分别显著降低57.3%和42.0%。与其他施氮处理相比, YUL1和YUL2夏玉米季生长中后期0~20 cm土层依然保持相对较高的氮素含量水平,夏玉米收获后土壤硝态氮含量分别比CNU高46.0%和43.4%,比UAN高45.6%和44.7%;180~200cm土层硝态氮含量显著低于其他处理。在保证产量和净收益的同时,改性尿素硝酸铵肥料显著降低了氮素的氨挥发和淋溶损失浓度,尿酶抑制剂含量相对较高的YUL1抑制氨挥发的效果更好,硝化抑制剂含量相对高的YUL2硝态氮向下淋失的风险更小。 相似文献

Mutants of Ustilago maydis resistant to the piperidine fungicide piperalin were isolated in a mutation frequency of 2.4 × 10–5 after UV-irradiation and selection on media containing 50gml–1 piperalin. Genetic analysis with 15 such mutant isolates resulted in the identifications of two unlinked chromosomal loci, the U/ppl-1 locus with two allelic genes (U/ppl-1A and U/ppl-1B) and the U/ppl-2 locus. The U/ppl-2 and U/ppl-1A mutations are responsible for two levels of moderate and high resistance to piperalin (resistance factor, Rf: 54 and 135, respectively, based on effective concentration causing a 50% reduction in the growth rate, EC50), while the U/ppl-1B mutation gives only a small reduction (approximately 8-fold) in piperalin sensitivity. Cross-resistance studies with other SBIs shows that the major gene (U/ppl-2 and U/ppl-1A) mutants are resistant to fenpropidin (Rf: 43 and 68), fenpropimorph (Rf: 261 and 283) and tridemorph (Rf: 9 and 10), but not to the inhibitors of C-14 demethylase (DMIs) and squalene epoxidase. The minor gene mutation U/ppl-1B codes a low-level of resistance (approximately 5—12-fold) to the above morpholine-type fungicides, but in contrast with the major gene mutations it increases 2–10 times the sensitivity to triazoles: triadimefon, triadimenol, propiconazole and flusilazole. Crosses between mutants carrying the U/ppl-genes with compatible isolates carrying the U/fpd, U/fpm or U/tdm mutations, which have been identified in previous genetic works for resistance to morpholine-type fungicides, yielded, with the exception of U/ppl-2 ×U/fpm-2 cross, a large number of recombinants with wild-type sensitivity, indicating that the mutant genes involved in these crosses, were not allelic. An additive gene effect was observed only between nonallelic minor genes U/ppl-1B and U/fpm-1B or U/tdm-1,2. Studies of the fitness of piperalin-resistant isolates showed that the reduced sensitivity of major gene mutants was not associated with changes on the phytopathogenic fitness determining characteristics, such as growth in liquid culture and pathogenicity on young corn plants. Conversely, the minor gene mutation U/ppl-1B appeared to be pleiotropic, having significantly adverse effects on the phytopathogenic fitness. 相似文献

AIM: Through detecting bone marrow angiogenic mediators and inhibitors in aplastic anemia (AA) patients,the value of angionesis in AA pathogenesis was elucidated.METHODS: The patients were divided into severe AA group (SAA,8 patients),non severe AA group (NSAA,10 patients),and normal control group (7 persons),5 patients were observed before treating (group beginning) and getting improvement (group improving).The angiogenic mediators vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and bFGF were detected by ELISA,angiogenic inhibitors IFN-γ and TSP were detected by ELISA and flow cytometry,respectively.RESULTS: The levels of VEGF were lower in SAA group and NSAA group than those in control group significantly (P<0.05),the levels of IFN-γ and TSP were higher than those in control group (P<0.05),especially in SAA group (P<0.01).Compared with group beginning,the level of VEGF was higher in group improving (P<0.05),the levels of IFN-γ,TSP were lower (P<0.05),there was no obviously difference between group beginning and group improving except IFN-γ.CONCLUSION: The dropping of angiogenic mediators and the rising of angiogenic inhibitors may be one reason of reducing the number of microvessel,which result in deficiency in supporting hemapoietic stem cells by bone marrow microenvironment. 相似文献

The issue of cross‐ or multiple resistance to acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitors and the auxinic herbicide 2,4‐D was investigated in Papaver rhoeas L., a common and troublesome weed in winter cereals, in a broad‐scale study across four European countries. A combination of herbicide sensitivity bioassays and molecular assays targeting mutations involved in resistance was conducted on 27 populations of P. rhoeas originating from Greece (9), Italy (5), France (10) and Spain (3). Plants resistant to the field rate of 2,4‐D were observed in 25 of the 27 populations assayed, in frequencies ranging from 5% to 85%. Plants resistant to ALS‐inhibiting herbicides (sulfonylureas) were present in 24 of the 27 populations, in frequencies ranging from 4% to 100%. Plants resistant to 2,4‐D co‐occurred with plants resistant to sulfonylureas in 23 populations. In four of these, the probability of presence of plants with cross‐ or multiple resistance to 2,4‐D and sulfonylureas was higher than 0.5. ALS genotyping of plants from the field populations or of their progenies, identified ALS alleles carrying a mutation at codon Pro197 or Trp574 in 2,4‐D‐sensitive and in 2,4‐D‐resistant plants. The latter case confirmed multiple resistance to 2,4‐D and ALS inhibitors at the level of individual plants in all four countries investigated. This study is the first to identify individual plants with multiple resistance in P. rhoeas, an attribute rarely assessed in other weed species, but one with significant implications in designing chemical control strategies. 相似文献

Background:Antibiotic-resistant pathogens became a real global threat to human and animal health. This needs to concentrate the efforts to minimize and control these organisms. Efflux pumps are considered one of the important strategies used by bacteria to exclude harmful materials from the cell. Inhibition of these pumps can be an active strategy against multidrug resistance pathogens. There are two sources of efflux pump inhibitors that can be used, chemical and natural inhibitors. The chemical origin efflux pump inhibitors have many toxic side effects while the natural origin is characterized by a wide margin of safety for the host cell.Aim:In this study, the ability of some plant extracts like (propolis show rosemary, clove, capsaicin, and cumin) to potentiate the inhibitory activity of some antibiotics such as (ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, gentamycin, tetracycline, and ampicillin) against Staphylococcus aureus pathogen were tested.Methods:Efflux pump inhibitory activity of the selected plant extracts was tested using an ethidium bromide (EtBr) accumulation assay.Results:The results have shown that Propolis has a significant synergistic effect in combination with ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, and gentamycin. While it has no effect with tetracycline or ampicillin. Also, no synergic effect was noticed in a combination of the minimum inhibitory concentration for the selected plant extracts (rosemary, clove, capsaicin, and cumin) with any of the tested antibiotics. Interestingly, according to the results of the EtBr accumulation assay, Propolis has potent inhibitory activity against the S. aureus (MRS usa300) pump system.Conclusion:This study suggests that Propolis might act as a resistance breaker that is able to restore the activity of ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, and gentamycin against S. aureus strains, in case of the efflux-mediated antimicrobial resistance mechanisms. 相似文献

Differential accumulation of [14C]imazalil and [14C]fenarimol by germlings of wild-type and DMI-resistant isolates ofPenicillium italicum was studied at various pH values. At pH 7 and 8 the low-resistant isolate E300–3 accumulated 22% and 35%, respectively, less imazalil than the wild-type isolate W5. Imazalil accumulation at pH 5 and 6 was similar. Isolate E300–3 also accumulated less fenarimol as compared with the wild-type isolate. This difference was much more obvious than for imazalil and was observed at all pH values tested. Differences in accumulation of both imazalil and fenarimol between low (E300–3), medium (H17) and high resistant (I33) isolates were not observed. These results suggest that decreased accumulation of DMIs is responsible for a low level of resistance only and that additional mechanisms of resistance might operate in isolates with a medium and high degree of resistance. With all isolates fenarimol accumulation was energy-dependent. This was not obvious for imazalil.The wild-type and DMI-resistant isolates had a similar plasma membrane potential as determined with the probe [14C]tetraphenylphosphonium bromide ([14C]TPP+). Various test compounds, among which ATPase inhibitors, ionophoric antibiotics and calmodulin antagonists, affected the accumulation of [14C]TPP+, [14C]imazalil and [14C]fenarimol. No obvious correlation between the effects of the test compounds on accumulation levels of the fungicides and [14C]TPP+ could be observed. These results indicate that the plasma membrane potential does not mediate the efflux of DMI fungicides byP. italicum. 相似文献
