This study shows the effects of dietary activated charcoal (AC) on health status, intestinal morphology and fillet geosmin content of Nile tilapia prior to harvesting (2 and 4 weeks). Four dietary treatments (each diet in six replicates) were formulated to incorporate AC at levels of 0, 10, 20 and 30 g kg?1 of the dry diet. Fish were reared in hapas, which were located in earthen ponds. There were not significant differences in growth performances among experimental treatments. The moisture and protein content in the fillet decreased and increased, respectively, as the incorporation level of AC increased. The hematological indices and several immune parameters did not differ significantly among treatment groups. Among the fifteen blood chemicals parameters examined, the significant reductions in protein and cholesterol and the changes in blood minerals were observed in fish fed dietary AC ≥20 g kg?1. Dietary AC tended to increase the height of intestinal villi and goblet cell number. Dietary AC also influenced the reduction in geosmin in the fish fillet. Taken together, these findings indicate that AC (at 10 g kg?1 diet) could be used as feed supplement for Nile tilapia prior harvesting to reduce geosmin without negative effects.  相似文献

A growth trial was conducted to examine the effect of dietary digestible energy (DE) content on methionine (Met) utilization and requirement in juvenile Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Ten iso‐nitrogenous (288 g kg?1 protein) practical diets, with two DE levels (10.9 MJ kg?1; 12.4 MJ kg?1) and five methionine supplementation levels (0, 1, 2, 4 and 6 g kg?1), were hand‐fed twice daily to triplicate groups of Nile tilapia (initial body weight 8.95 ± 0.06 g) for 8 weeks. Weight gain (WG) and specific growth rate (SGR) increased significantly with increasing dietary methionine concentration at the same DE content (< 0.001). At the same dietary methionine level, WG and SGR of fish fed high‐DE diets were significantly higher than that of fish fed low‐DE diets (= 0.0001), although no interaction was found between dietary DE and methionine supplementation. Based on quadratic regression analysis between dietary methionine concentration and weight gain, optimal methionine requirement for maximum growth, expressed as g Met required kg?1 diet (low‐ versus high‐DE diets), increased as diet DE concentration increased (7.34 versus 9.90 g kg?1 diet, respectively; with cysteine 4.70 g kg?1 diet). The results indicated that diet DE content affects methionine utilization and requirement in juvenile Nile tilapia, fish fed high‐DE diets required more methionine for maximum growth.  相似文献

Threonine is the third‐limiting essential amino acid in diets based on cereal ingredients. A 4‐week trial was conducted to determine the threonine requirement of large Nile tilapia based on fish growth, feed efficiency, body composition, protein and amino acid retention. Six hundred fish (563.3 ± 15.1 g) were distributed into twenty 1.2‐m3 cages. Five diets containing 288 g kg?1 of crude protein, 12.7 MJ kg?1 of digestible energy and 8.9, 10.5, 12.2, 13.7 and 15.4 g kg?1 of threonine were elaborated. Fish were hand‐fed five times a day to extruded diets. Significantly, differences in growth performance and amino acids retention among the treatments were observed. Fish fed 10.5 g kg?1 of threonine showed higher daily weight gain, gutted weight and fillet weight (P < 0.05) compared to fish fed with other experimental diets. Diets containing 8.9–15.4 g kg?1 of threonine did not affect whole body and muscle proximate composition. Based on second‐order regression analysis, the dietary threonine requirement estimated based on final gain, fillet weight and fillet yield was 12, 12.1 and 11.5 g kg?1 diet, respectively. The dietary threonine requirement for maximum fillet yield of Nile tilapia was estimated to be 11.5 g kg?1.  相似文献

A 10-week feeding experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary protein to lipid ratios (P/L) on growth, intestinal digestive enzyme activities and body composition in juvenile rice field eel (Monopterus albus) (initial mean body weight of 65.76 ± 1.07 g, mean ± SEM). Nine test diets were formulated in a 3 × 3 factorial design to contain three protein levels (350, 400 and 450 g kg?1) for each of three lipid levels (40, 80 and 120 g kg?1), respectively. Each diet was randomly assigned to triplicate groups of 60 fish per net cage (1.5 × 2.0 × 1.5 m). Results showed the survival was above 96 % and was not affected by dietary treatments. Fish fed the diet with 450 g kg?1 protein and 40 g kg?1 lipid showed the best weight gain (WG) (103.95 %) and feed conversion ratio (1.60) (P < 0.05). WG, protein efficiency ratio and energy retention increased with the increasing in lipid at 350 g kg?1 protein level (P < 0.05). However, WG showed a little decline with increasing dietary lipid when fish fed the diets with 400 and 450 g kg?1 protein level, but no significant difference was observed (P < 0.05). Hepatosomatic index, visceralsomatic index and intestinal lipase activity increased with the increasing of dietary lipid level irrespective protein level. Intestinal trypsin activity increased with the increasing of dietary lipid level when fish fed the diets with 350 g kg?1 protein, but showed converse trend when fish fed the diets with 400 and 450 g kg?1 protein. Serum triglyceride, body lipid and energy were positively correlated with the dietary lipid. Results of the present study showed that the dietary protein/lipid ratio of 450/40 g kg?1 is considered optimum for rice field eel under culture conditions, and the increase in dietary lipid level has no efficient protein-sparing effect when fish fed the diets with 400 and 450 g kg?1 protein level.  相似文献

A 8‐week feeding trial was conducted to determine the effect of substituting fish oil with palm oil‐laden spent bleaching clay (SBC), a by‐product from crude palm oil (CPO) refining, on growth, feed utilization, fatty acid composition and heavy metal accumulation in the muscle of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus. Four isonitrogenous and isolipidic practical diets were formulated to contain 0, 100, 200 or 300 g kg?1 SBC. Growth performance of Nile tilapia was significantly better in fish fed the 100 g kg?1 SBC diet compared with fish fed the 0, 200 or 300 g kg?1 SBC diet. Growth and feed utilization efficiency of fish fed 200 or 300 g kg?1 SBC were similar to fish fed the control diet without added SBC. Whole‐body composition, body‐organ indices and haematocrit of tilapia were not affected by dietary treatments. Fatty acid compositions in the muscle lipid of Nile tilapia were strongly influenced by dietary treatments with progressively elevated levels of total saturates and n‐6 PUFA because of the dietary influence of these fatty acids from residual CPO adsorbed onto SBC. A gradual decrease in total n‐3 PUFA concentrations were also observed with the ratio of n‐3 to n‐6 fatty acids in muscle lipids decreasing from 4.75 to 4.41, 3.23 or 2.37 after 8 weeks on the 0, 100, 200 or 300 g kg?1 SBC diet, respectively. The arsenic, cadmium and lead concentrations in the experimental diets increased with increasing dietary levels of SBC but the concentrations of these heavy metals in the whole body and bone of Nile tilapia were not significantly different among fish fed the various diets. The present 8‐week study showed that in fishmeal‐based diets for Nile tilapia, palm oil‐laden SBC can totally replace added fish oil. The use of this presently discarded waste product from palm oil refining in tilapia diets will greatly contribute to reducing the impact of rising feed costs in the culture of tilapia in many tropical countries. Other potential benefits may include acting as a feed binder, removal of mycotoxins in fish feeds as well as adsorbing toxic substances present in the culture water.  相似文献

The effect of dietary amylose/amylopectin (AM/AP) ratio on growth, feed utilization, digestive enzyme activities, plasma parameters, and postprandial blood glucose responses was evaluated in juvenile obscure puffer, Takifugu obscurus. Five isonitrogenous (430 g kg?1 crude protein) and isolipidic (90 g kg?1 crude lipid) diets containing an equal starch level (250 g kg?1 starch) with different AM/AP ratio diets of 0/25, 3/22, 6/19, 9/16 and 12/13 were formulated. Each experimental diet was fed to triplicate groups (25 fish per tank), twice daily during a period of 60 days. After the growth trial, a postprandial blood response test was carried out. Fish fed diet 6/19 showed best growth, feed efficiency and protein efficiency ratio. Hepatosomatic index, plasma total cholesterol concentration, liver glycogen and lipid content, and gluconokinase, pyruvate kinase and fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase activities were lower in fish fed highest AM/AP diet (12/13) than in fish fed the low-amylose diets. Activities of liver and intestinal trypsin in fish fed diet 3/22 and diet 6/19 were higher than in fish fed diet 9/16 and diet 12/13. Activities of liver and intestinal amylase and intestinal lipase, and starch digestibility were negatively correlated with dietary AM/AP ratio. Fish fed diet 3/22 and diet 6/19 showed higher plasma total amino acid concentration than fish fed the other diets, while plasma urea nitrogen concentration and activities of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase showed the opposite trend. Equal values were found for viscerosomatic index and condition factor, whole body and muscle composition, plasma high-density and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations, and activities of lipase and hexokinase and glucose-6-phosphatase in liver. Postprandial plasma glucose and triglyceride peak value of fish fed diet 12/13 were lower than in fish fed the low-amylose diets, and the peak time of plasma glucose was later than in fish fed the other diets. Plasma glucose and triglyceride concentrations showed a significant difference at 2 and 4 h after a meal and varied between dietary treatments. According to regression analysis of weight gain against dietary AM/AP ratio, the optimum dietary AM/AP ratio for maximum growth of obscure puffer was 0.25. The present result indicates that dietary AM/AP ratio could affect growth performance and feed utilization, some plasma parameters, digestive enzyme as well as hepatic glucose metabolic enzyme activities in juvenile obscure puffer.  相似文献

The effect of replacing fishmeal with simple or complex mixtures of plant proteins in tilapia diets was examined. Diet formulations were arranged in a 2 × 4 factorial design with two types of plant protein mixtures used to replace fishmeal (simple: soybean meal and maize gluten meal or complex: soybean meal, maize gluten meal, dehulled flax, pea protein concentrate and canola protein concentrate) and four levels of protein originating from fishmeal (1000 g kg?1, 670 g kg?1, 330 g kg?1 and 0 g kg?1). Diets contained equal digestible protein (380 g kg?1) and digestible energy (17.6 MJ kg?1). The average daily gains, specific growth rates and feed efficiencies of fish fed diets with 0 g kg?1 fishmeal were significantly lower than fish fed diets with the 330 g kg?1, 670 g kg?1 or 1000 g kg?1 fishmeal levels. Fish fed the complex diets had significantly higher average daily gains, specific growth rates, feed : gain ratios and protein efficiency ratios than those fed the simple diets. Intestinal villus length decreased with decreasing levels of fishmeal and increased with increased diet complexity but the effects were not significant. Replacement of fishmeal with a complex mixture of plant ingredients may allow a greater replacement of fishmeal in diets fed to Nile tilapia.  相似文献

A study was conducted to estimate the optimum requirement of dietary available phosphorus for GIFT strain of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus. Six purified diets were formulated to contain graded levels (0 (control diet), 2.9, 4.8, 7.6, 9.1 and 10.9 g kg?1 diet) of available phosphorus. Each diet was fed to triplicate groups of 12 fish with initial average weight (46.03 ± 2.14) g for 8 weeks. The results showed that fish fed the three lowest phosphorus diets (0, 2.9 and 4.8 g kg?1) had significantly lower weight gain rate, specific growth rate (SGR) and feed efficiency than those fed the other diets (< 0.05). The survival rate of fish fed the control diet was significantly lower than that of the fish fed the other diets (< 0.05). Whole body viscerosomatic index and crude lipid content decreased significantly with increasing dietary available phosphorus levels (< 0.05), while the contents of crude ash, calcium, phosphorus in the whole body and vertebrae showed the opposite trend (P < 0.05). The blood chemistry analysis showed that dietary available phosphorus had significant effects on serum phosphorus concentration, enzyme activities of alkaline phosphatase and parathyroid hormone level. Quadratic curve analysis based on SGR indicated that the minimum dietary requirement of available phosphorus for maintaining optimal growth of tilapia was 8.6 g kg?1.  相似文献

The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of dietary lipid levels on growth, liver oxidative stress, and serum metabolites of juvenile hybrid snakehead (Channa argus × Channa maculata). Five isonitrogenous (crude protein 420 g kg?1) practical diets containing 58, 87, 115, 144, and 173 g kg?1 crude lipid (named L58, L87, L115, L144, and L173, respectively) were fed to triplicate groups of 30 fish (mean initial weight 24 g) for 8 weeks. The results showed that the final body weight (58.68–78.81 g), specific growth rate (1.41–1.75 % day?1), and protein efficiency ratio (1.66–2.64) increased significantly with the increasing dietary lipid levels. Liver lipid contents (71.65–101.80 g kg?1) and crude lipid (52.10–83.63 g kg?1) of whole body increased with increasing dietary lipid levels and reached the highest values in fish of L173. Fish of L173 showed lower alkaline phosphatase (23.81 King Unit gprot?1) and catalase activities (4.44 U mgprot?1) but higher malondialdehyde content (0.69 nmol mgprot?1) in liver than the other groups. Higher alanine transaminase activity (8.20 U L?1), aspartate transaminase activity (63.65 U L?1), and triglyceride (0.29 mmol L?1) in serum were observed in fish of L173 compared to the other treatments. Fish of L144 showed higher superoxide dismutase activity and glutathione peroxidase activities in liver than that of fish fed diet L58. Fish fed diet L58 showed lower total cholesterol (3.61 mmol L?1), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (1.39 mmol L?1), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (0.46 mmol L?1) in serum. These results suggested that juvenile snakehead (Channa argus × Channa maculata) achieved good growth performance with dietary lipid level 173 g kg?1. Diet with 143 g kg?1 lipid was more conductive to liver health. The appropriate dietary lipid supplementation needs to be determined in further studies.  相似文献

An 8‐week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary leucine on growth performance, feed utilization, body composition and non‐specific immune responses of juvenile Nile tilapia. Five isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets were formulated to contain graded levels of L‐leucine (5.3, 8.1, 10.9, 13.2, 15.6 and 18.1 g kg?1 diet, respectively) from dietary ingredients and crystalline L‐leucine. Each diet was randomly assigned to triplicate groups of 20 juvenile fish (1.94 ± 0.01 g) three times daily to apparent satiation. Results showed that the weight gain (WG) and specific growth rate (SGR) increased as dietary leucine concentrations increased from 5.3 to 13.2 g kg?1 and then decreased slightly with further increase in dietary leucine concentrations. Quadratic regression analysis (y = ?522.6x2 + 1304.x + 132.6, R² = 0.684) on weight gain against dietary leucine levels indicated that the optimal dietary leucine requirement was estimated to be 12.5 g kg?1 diet (corresponding to 43.1 g kg?1 of dietary protein). Leucine supplementation had no impact on the survival and body composition of tilapia. Serum lysozyme activity of fish fed diet containing 13.2 g kg?1 leucine significantly increased compared to fish fed diet containing 5.3 g kg?1. Serum superoxide dismutase activity and immunoglobulin M (IgM) concentration were not significantly affected by dietary leucine supplementation.  相似文献

A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of replacing fish meal with rubber seed meal (RSM) on growth, nutrient utilization, and cholesterol metabolism of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus × Oreochromis aureus). Five experimental diets were formulated with 0, 150, 300, 450, and 600 g kg?1 RSM replacing graded levels of fish meal, respectively. Each diet was randomly assigned to triplicate groups of 25 fish (initial average weight 65.3 g) per aquarium in a rearing system maintained at 29 ± 1 °C for 8 weeks. Dietary 150 g kg?1 RSM inclusion did not affect the weight gain and daily growth coefficient, whereas these were depressed by a further inclusion. Additionally, feed efficiency ratio and protein efficiency ratio were not affected by dietary RSM inclusion regardless of inclusion level. However, the inclusion of 450 and 600 g kg?1 RSM decreased the mid-intestinal trypsin, lipase, and amylase activities; the hepatic acyl-CoA/cholesterol acyl transferase; low-density lipoprotein receptor; and 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-CoA reductase activities. Similarly, dietary 600 g kg?1 RSM inclusion inhibited the plasma catalase and hepatic glutathione peroxidase activities. These results indicated that 150 g kg?1 RSM can be included in tilapia diets, whereas higher inclusion of RSM inhibited the growth rate, digestive enzyme activity, antioxidant capacity, and cholesterol metabolism.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate the fat deposition pattern and lipid metabolic strategies of grass carp in response to dietary lipid levels. Five isonitrogenous diets (260 g kg?1 crude protein) containing five dietary lipid levels (0, 20, 40, 60, 80 g kg?1) were fed to quadruplicate groups of 15 fish with initial weight 200 g, for 8 weeks. The best growth performance and feed utilization was observed in fish fed with lipid level at 40 g kg?1. MFI and adipose tissue lipid content increased with increasing dietary lipid level up to 40 g kg?1, and higher lipid level in diet made no sense. Fish adapted to high lipid intake through integrated regulating mechanisms in several related tissues to maintain lipid homeostasis. In the present study, grass carp firstly increased PPARγ and CPT1 expressions in adipose tissue to elevate adipocyte differentiation and lipolysis to adapt to high lipid intake above 40 g kg?1. In liver, fish elevated hepatic lipid uptake but depressed biosynthesis of hepatic FAs, resulted in no difference in HSI and liver lipid content among the groups. Only in muscle, fish showed a significant fat deposition when the lipid intake above 40 g kg?1. The excess lipid, derived from enhanced serum TC and TG contents, was more likely to induce deposition in muscle rather than lipid uptake by adipose tissue in grass carp fed with high dietary lipid, indicating the muscle of grass carp might be the main responding organ to high lipid intake.  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of cholesterol on growth and cholesterol metabolism of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fed diets with cottonseed meal (CSM) or rapeseed meal (RSM). Four experimental diets were formulated to contain 550 g kg?1 CSM or 450 g kg?1 RSM with or without 9 g kg?1 supplemental cholesterol. Growth rate and feed utilization efficiency of fish fed diets with 450 g kg?1 RSM were inferior to fish fed diets with 550 g kg?1 CSM regardless of cholesterol level. Dietary cholesterol supplementation increased the growth rate of fish fed diets with RSM, and growth rate and feed utilization efficiency of fish fed diets with CSM. Similarly, dietary cholesterol supplementation increased the plasma total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triiodothyronine levels, but decreased the plasma triglycerides and cortisol levels of fish fed diets with RSM or CSM. In addition, supplemental cholesterol increased the free cholesterol and TC levels in intestinal contents, but decreased the hepatic 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-CoA reductase activity of fish fed diets with RSM or CSM. These results indicate that 9 g kg?1 cholesterol supplementation seems to improve the growth of rainbow trout fed diets with CSM or RSM, and the growth-promoting action may be related to the alleviation of the negative effects caused by antinutritional factors and/or make up for the deficiency of endogenous cholesterol in rainbow trout.  相似文献

A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the optimum requirement of dietary available phosphorus (AP) for juvenile walking catfish, Clarias leather. Six practical diets were formulated to contain graded levels (2.2, 3.9, 5.5, 7.1, 8.8 and 10.4 g kg?1) of AP from dietary ingredients and monocalcium phosphate. Each diet was randomly fed to triplicate groups of fish with initial mean weight of 7.94 ± 0.08 g in floating cages (1.5 × 1.5 × 2.0 m) suspended in an earthen pond, and each cage was stocked initially with 60 fish. Fish were fed thrice daily (07:30, 13:00 and 17:30) to apparent satiation for 10 weeks. Both specific growth rate (SGR) and protein efficiency ratio significantly increased with increasing AP from 2.2 to 5.5 g kg?1 (< 0.05) and then levelled off. Dietary AP levels significantly influenced whole‐body protein, lipid and ash contents as well as condition factor and hepatosomatic index (< 0.05). Whole‐body and vertebrae phosphorus contents showed similar patterns as SGR in response to dietary AP content. Broken‐line analyses based on SGR, phosphorus contents in the vertebrae and whole‐body indicated the AP requirements were 5.8, 7.2 and 7.5 g kg?1, respectively.  相似文献

Five isocaloric‐isonitrogenous diets containing 0, 150, 300, 450 and 600 g kg?1 of fungi Trichoderma reesei‐degraded date pits (DDP), as a replacement for dietary corn, were fed to triplicate groups of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus L. fingerlings (1.88 g initial weight), for 9 weeks, in 70 L fibreglass tanks. Each tank was considered as an experimental unit and was part of a water recirculating system utilizing filtered and aerated ground well water (24 ± 3 °C). Tilapia growth performance, namely, weight gain, feed conversion, specific growth rate and protein efficiency ratio were similar and superior in fish fed diets containing 150 and 300 g kg?1 DDP, when compared with those fish fed the other diets. Fish fed the control diet with 450 g kg?1 DDP had better growth efficiency performance than those fed diets containing 0 and 600 g kg?1. Fish fed the diet with 600 g kg?1 DDP were inferior to all other groups. Tilapia body composition was affected by increasing DDP level in the diets as body fat was decreased, while body moisture was increased. In conclusion, DDP could replace 300 g kg?1 of dietary corn with better growth results. Further increase of date pits replacements to 450 g kg?1 will affect growth performance, when compared with the control.  相似文献

To determine the digestible lysine requirement for pacu juveniles, a dose–response feeding trial was carried out. The fish (8.66 ± 1.13 g) were fed six diets containing the digestible lysine levels: 6.8, 9.1, 11.4, 13.2, 16.1 and 19.6 g kg?1 dry diet. The gradual increase of dietary digestible lysine levels from 6.8 to 13.2 g kg?1 did not influence the average values of the parameters evaluated (P > 0.05). The increase of dietary digestible lysine level to 16.1 g kg?1 significantly improved weight gain (WG), specific growth rate (SGR), protein productive value (PPV), protein efficiency rate (PER), and apparent feed conversion rate (FCR), but was not different from fish fed diets containing 19.6 g kg?1 lysine. Fish fed diets containing 16.1 and 19.6 g kg?1 digestible lysine showed lower body lipid contents than fish in the other treatments. The digestible lysine requirement as determined by the broken‐line model, based on average WG values, was 16.4 g kg?1. The other essential amino acid requirements were estimated based on the ideal protein concept and the value determined for lysine.  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate dietary protein and carbohydrate requirement of juvenile Hawaiian limpets Cellana sandwincensis. A total of 64 juvenile limpets (3.12 ± 0.86 g) were fed five different dietary protein levels ranging from 270 to 470 g kg?1 for 90 days. Carbohydrate and lipid levels were held constant at 180 and 49.7 g kg?1, respectively. Weight gain and growth rates of the animals did not differ significantly (P > 0.05) among the protein levels ranging from 270 g kg?1 (0.30 % day?1) to 470 g kg?1 (0.23 % day?1). Next, opihi were fed four diets with protein levels from 210 to 500 g kg?1 with a constant carbohydrate level at 120 g kg?1. Weight gain and specific growth rates of opihi increased with increasing dietary protein from 210 to 350 g kg?1, and significantly (P < 0.05) decreased at the 500 g kg?1 diet. Highest weight gain, growth rates, and protein efficiency ratio were achieved at 350 g kg?1. Elevated carbohydrate levels (180–370 g kg?1) produced a significant difference (P < 0.05) in growth. The fastest growth rates of animals were obtained with 270 g kg?1 (0.27 % day?1) and 320 g kg?1 (0.26 % day?1). The weight gain of animals fed 180 and 370 g kg?1 carbohydrate diets were significantly (P < 0.05) lower than those of animals fed 270 and 320 g kg?1. We conclude that about 350 g kg?1 protein and 320 g kg?1 carbohydrate levels could be used for opihi.  相似文献

The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is one of the commonest probiotics incorporated in aquafeeds. An 84-day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of varying dietary inclusions of S. cerevisiae, 0% (control), 3% (YF3), 5% (YF5), and 7% (YF7), on growth, stress tolerance, and disease resistance in juvenile (body mass ~?21 g) Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Fish were randomly distributed in groups of 20 into 12 1-m3 hapas and fed isoenergetic (~?17 kJ g?1 gross energy) and isonitrogenous (~?300 g kg?1 crude protein) diets at 3% of their bulk weight daily. Specific growth rates were significantly higher for the yeast-fed fish (0.77–0.78% day?1) than for the control fish (0.60% day?1) and resulted in significantly higher mean final weights for the yeast-treated groups. Protein and lipid retention efficiencies were also significantly higher in the yeast-fed fish than in the control group. In subsequent stress challenge trials, the yeast-fed fish had greater tolerance to acute heat as well as hypoxia exposure than the control fish. Survival rates of the yeast-treated groups following sudden exposure to elevated water temperature (40 °C) ranged from 82.5 to 100% compared to 15% for the control. Mean survival rates following a 24-h hypoxia exposure were also generally significantly higher for the yeast-fed fish. The probiotic groups recorded a relative percent survival (RPS) of 75% after a 14-day Aeromonas hydrophila infection challenge. The results of this study indicate that S. cerevisiae as an additive in Nile tilapia diets has beneficial impacts on growth, stress tolerance, and disease resistance.  相似文献

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary chitosan on growth performance, hematological parameters, intestinal histology, stress resistance and body composition in the Caspian kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum, Kamenskii, 1901) fingerlings. Fish (1.7 ± 0.15 g) were fed diets containing chitosan at different levels (0, 0.25, 0.5, 1 and 2 g kg?1 diet) for a period of 60 days. Results showed that the feed conversion ratio significantly decreased in fish fed diet containing 1 g kg?1 of chitosan compared to the other groups (P < 0.05), but there were no significant differences between treatments in terms of specific growth rate and condition factor (P > 0.05). Leukocyte increased in fish fed diet containing 2 g kg?1 of chitosan compared to the other groups (P < 0.05). Lymphocytes, eosinophils and neutrophils did not significantly change among dietary treatments (P > 0.05). Also, the chitosan supplementation did not affect the whole-fish body composition (P > 0.05). Light microscopy demonstrated that the intestinal villus length increased in fish fed diet containing 1 g kg?1 of chitosan compared to control group (P < 0.05). While 11 and 13 ‰ salinity and 30 °C thermal stress had no effect, 1 g kg?1 of chitosan (P < 0.05) showed highest survival rate (70 %) in 34 °C thermal stress. The results showed that chitosan in the diet of the Caspian kutum fingerlings could improve feed conversion ratio, the nonspecific defense mechanisms and resistance to some of the environmental stresses.  相似文献

The present study was carried out to evaluate the use of Biogen and sodium butyrate (SB) as feed additives in the diet of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fingerlings, in two parallel experiments. Biogen was incorporated in isonitrogenous (35% crude protein) and isocaloric (19 MJ kg?1) diets at four levels (0.0 (control), 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0%), while SB was included at five levels (0.0 (control), 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0%). The diets were fed to fingerling Nile tilapia (10.5 ± 0.5 g) at a daily rate of 4% of their body weight, three times a day, for 60 days. Except the lymphocytes and monocyte numbers in fish fed SB, hematological parameters, including red blood cell (RBC) hematocrit (Ht), hemoglobin (Hb), and white blood cells (WBC) were not significantly (P > 0.05) affected by dietary Biogen and SB. The lymphocytes number in Nile tilapia fed on SB increased with increasing SB up to 2% level, and decreased afterwards. Monocyte numbers showed irregular patterns. The activities of serum enzymes alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) of fish fed diets containing Biogen or SB were not significantly affected by dietary treatments (P > 0.05). No structural differences of tilapia liver were detected between all Biogen treatments and sodium butyrate concentrations up to 1% with control. At concentrations of 2 and 3% sodium butyrate, liver steatosis increased leading to shrinked acentric nuclei. At a concentration of 2% Biogen, some glomerulus cells had fading cytoplasm. Concerning fish fed SB diets, the structure of kidney was the same as in control except at concentration of 3% SB, where the septum between cells disappeared. No changes in gill structure were noticed at all concentrations of Biogen and SB.  相似文献
