Pyrethrins and the pyrethroids, bioallethrin ((+) trans-chrysanthemic acid ester of (±) allethrolone), resmethrin* (5-benzyl-3-furylmethyl (±)-cis,trans-chrysanthemate) and bioresmethrin? (5-benzyl-3-furylmethyl (+)-trans-chrysanthemate) were compared for insecticidal activity against free-flying Aedes aegypti L. in a Peet-Grady chamber using kerosene solutions and an aerosol particle size. The relative potency for kill of female mosquitoes was 1; 2.3; 6.8; 8.0 respectively. In further experiments, resmethrin and bioresmethrin were compared as aerosol formulations in a Comet 4C aircraft using caged and fed female A. aegypti. Both compounds at 0.1% (by wt.) in pressure packs and 35 g of formulation per 100 m3 provided 99% kill. It is suggested that pressure packs containing 0.5% (by wt.) of either compound should be adequate for disinsection of passenger aircraft. However, bioresmethrin would appear to be the compound of choice in view of its greater biological efficiency under laboratory conditions, and consequent probable greater margin of kill in practice.  相似文献

The losses of natural pyrethrins, bioallethrin, bioresmethrin and tetramethrin have been measured during thermal fogging using the Swingfog Model SN6 and the Lightweight TIFA. Fogs produced from kerosene solutions of the insecticides containing an internal standard were analysed by gas chromatography. Losses of natural pyrethrins, bioresmethrin and tetramethrin were less than the experimental error showing that these compounds did not degrade in either machine. Losses of bioallethrin were 3.1 and 5.5% in the Swingfog and TIFA respectively but these figures were possibly exaggerated slightly by inefficiencies in the fog sampling technique and it is doubtful if losses of this magnitude would be detected under field conditions. Whilst operating with odourless kerosene, the maximum temperatures recorded within the fogging heads were 120°C in the Swingfog with a flow rate of 351/h and 265°C in the TIFA with a flow rate of 951/h.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Neonicotinoid baits are currently replacing anticholinesterase baits for control of adult houseflies (Musca domestica L.). Introduction of new insecticides includes evaluation of their cross-resistance potential, which was assessed for thiamethoxam in field populations from Denmark. RESULTS: In feeding bioassay with a susceptible strain, thiamethoxam LC(50) at 72 h was 1.7 microg thiamethoxam g(-1) sugar, making it 19-fold, 11-fold and threefold more toxic to houseflies than azamethiphos, methomyl and spinosad respectively. The field populations were 6-76-fold resistant to thiamethoxam. There was no correlation between the toxicities of thiamethoxam and spinosad, dimethoate, methomyl, bioresmethrin or azamethiphos. The toxicity in feeding bioassay at 72 h of imidacloprid in a susceptible strain was 32 microg imidacloprid g(-1) sugar at LC(50), making it 19-fold less toxic to houseflies than thiamethoxam. There was a strong significant correlation between the toxicities of thiamethoxam and imidacloprid in field populations.CONCLUSION: Neonicotinoid-resistant houseflies were present at a detectable and noticeable level before thiamethoxam and imidacloprid were introduced for housefly control in Denmark. The toxicity of thiamethoxam is explained by other parameters than the toxicities of spinosad, dimethoate, methomyl, bioresmethrin or azamethiphos. The cross-resistance between thiamethoxam and imidacloprid indicates a coincidence of mechanism of the toxicity and resistance in the field populations.  相似文献

The effects of pyrethroids on the on-going electrical activity of the axons of neurosecretory cells from the brain of fifth instar Rhodnius prolixus have been studied using extracellular electrodes. Low concentrations of the pyrethroids decamethrin, bioresmethrin, permethrin, and bioallethrin all produce dramatic increases in the overall frequency and dramatic changes in the pattern of electrical activity when applied directly to the exposed brain and corpora cardiaca in an otherwise intact insect. This change in activity was brought about by a recruitment in active units and the production of phasic acivity. A doubling of frequency over that of controls was brought about by low doses of the pyrethroids, namely decamethrin, 1 × 10?10M; bioresmethrin, 2 × 10?10M; permethrin, 1 × 10?9M; and bioallethrin, 2 × 10?7M. Similar hyperactivity of this system occurred during intoxication of intact insects following topical application of LD95 bioresmethrin. The enhanced sensitivity shown by neurosecretory cells over that of other cell types is discussed, as is the possibility that the increases in electrical activity of neurosecretory axons may result in massive neurohormonal release and thereby contribute to the eventual poisoning of the insect.  相似文献

The development of a mathematical model which, by quantifying the interaction of a population of houseflies with an ageing spray cloud, is capable of predicting the knockdown and kill performance of insecticidal aerosol formulations shown against houseflies, Musca domestica L., will be presented in a series of four separate papers. In this first paper, measurements were made of insecticide collected by houseflies during free flight using a standard room-spray technique. With pressure-packed aerosol formulations where the solvent is the principal change, it was shown that both knockdown and mortality responses of the insects were directly related to dose collected. The process of droplet collection was most significantly influenced by their size and availability, dependent upon the time after spraying, the position of insect release and the activity of individual adult M. domestica. The knockdown or mortality response of the insect to given amounts of insecticide was largely unaffected by the remaining solvent, although, with mineral oil, some inhibition was noted at low mortality levels. The amount of insecticide accumulated by houseflies in their initial flight was of prime importance in determining the overall effect. Flies remaining not knocked down at the end of the exposure period were shown to be so because they had accumulated less toxicant and not necessarily because they were more tolerant of the insecticide. The establishment of a relationship between the number of flies in flight and time after release has provided a key function for incorporation into the model.  相似文献

The relationship between incoordination, knockdown and mortality was investigated by following the course of poisoning in Schistocerca gregaria of two synthetic pyrethroids, bioresmethrin and bioallethrin. Kinetics describing theonset of these responses as a function of dose are interpreted in terms of the dynamics of penetration and detoxication. The possibility of the same site of action for knockdown and kill is briefly discussed.  相似文献

Comparisons with standard susceptible insects showed that a strain of Tribolium castaneum, with a specific resistance to malathion and its carboxylic ester analogues, had no cross-resistance to topical applications of natural pyrethrins. Another strain of T. castaneum, showing resistance to many organophosphorus (OP) insecticides, was cross-resistant to pyrethrins ( × 34) and eight synthetic pyrethroids also applied topically; least cross-resistance occurred with resmethrin ( × 2.2), bioresmethrin ( × 3.3) and phenothrin ( × 4.0). Generally larger resistance factors were recorded with formulations synergised by piperonyl butoxide (PB). The greatest cross-resistance encountered was with unsynergised tetramethrin ( × 338). Apart from tetramethrin, factors of synergism did not exceed 5.7 with either the susceptible or multi-OP resistant strains. PB antagonised six of the nine pyrethroids against the multi-OP resistant strain. Antagonism also occurred with two of these six, permethrin (cis: trans ratio 1:3) and 5-prop-2-ynylfurfuryl ( 1RS)-cis,trans-chrysanthemate (‘Prothrin’), against the susceptible strain. Considering only formulations without the synergist, the most effective compounds against the susceptible strain, relative to pyrethrins, were bioresmethrin (2.7) and permethrin (2.4). Similarly with the multi-OP resistant strain the most effective compounds were bioresmethrin (28), resmethrin (14) and permethrin (6.6). Thus the LD50 (the dose required to kill 50% of the test species) for bioresmethrin against the resistant strain (0.14 μg) only slightly exceeded the LD50 for pyrethrins against the susceptible strain (0.12 μg).  相似文献

Resistance to pyrethroids in insects is rare, but its recent rapid development in the field suggests that this resistance may be facilitated by previous exposure to or by resistance to insecticides of unrelated groups. To test this houseflies of strain 49r2b, originally resistant to dimethoate in the field, were selected eight times during ten generations with either pyrethrum extract or bioresmethrin with or without piperonyl butoxide or with dimethoate. Selecting with any of the pyrethroids led to resistance to these insecticides and in particular to pyrethrum/piperonyl butoxide. Selecting with pyrethrum/piperonyl butoxide resulted in strongest resistance to the pyrethroids tested, whereas selecting with bioresmethrin/piperonyl butoxide resulted in least resistance. These results show that dimethoate-resistant flies selected with pyrethroids can readily develop resistance to these insecticides, but development of resistance can be minimised by using bioresmethrin/piperonyl butoxide. The implications of these findings on the sequential use of insecticides are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

Field trials to control flies on animal farms in Malta were held during 1973 with tetrachlorvinphos, iodofenphos, fenitrothion, bioresmethrin and dimethoate applied as cover sprays to walls and ceilings. Results were assessed by fly population counts (using sticky fly-paper traps exposed for 24 h at weekly intervals), bioassay tests and visual assessments of flies on individual farms. Tetrachlorvinphos gave the best results and was applied as a cover spray on 12 large animal farms in the northwestern part of Gozo during 1974. Results, using the same criteria as in the 1973 trials, indicated that, although high fly mortality was observed and deposits on walls remained toxic throughout the season, effective control of houseflies and stableflies was not achieved.

It is suggested that residual spraying alone on the larger animal farms was not sufficient to overcome the breeding potential of the flies and that a residual spraying campaign could only be successful if more extensively applied and supplemented by a comprehensive programme of farm hygiene improvement.  相似文献

Sprays of bifenthrin and paraffinic oil mixtures were applied to cotton leaves (Gossypium hirsutum L.) to investigate droplet size effects on the mortality of Heliothis virescens (F.). An air-assisted nozzle applied mixtures at 9.4 litre ha ?1 spray rate with volume median diameters (VMD) of 96 and 337 μm, as verified with a Malvern laser diffraction analyzer. An hour after spraying, susceptible 3rd-instars walked for 2-min through wet droplets of spray mixtures applied at bifenthrin rates of 22, 45, 67, 90. and 112 g a.i. ha ?1. Mortality was assessed at 21, 26, 45, 50, 74, and 117h after exposure. Final mean mortality was affected (P =0.01) by bifenthrin rate and droplet size. Bifenthrin applied in 337 μm VMD droplets caused 75.8% mortality, whereas 96-μm VMD droplets resulted in a mortality of 67.9%. Also, the 337 μm VMD droplets killed larvae in 13% less time than the 96μm VMD droplets, based on analysis (P =0.01) using the mean elapsed time till death as the dependent factor.  相似文献

Conidia of the fungus Metarhizium flavoviride were formulated in a paraffinic oil, ‘Shellsol’ T, and sprayed using the Francome MkII exhaust nozzle sprayer. Germination of the conidia collected from the spray was reduced by 30% as compared to unsprayed conidia. However, in bioassays, there was no detectable difference in virulence with conidia collected from the spray samples and unsprayed formulation. This indicated that, despite the recorded reduction in the concentration of active conidia, the efficacy of the formulation remained unchanged after passing through the exhaust nozzle sprayer. The droplet size spectra produced by the sprayer were investigated using the Malvern series 2600cc particle size analyser. The optimum droplets for locust control produced by this sprayer were generated by the number 1 nozzle (internal diameter 2·5 mm) with the number 1 restrictor ring (internal diameter 12.5 mm) sprayed at a pressure of 0·2 bar. The droplets thus produced had a volume median diameter of 58 μm when the nozzle protruded between 1 and 2 mm above the level of the restrictor ring. Of the droplets in the spray plume created by these conditions, 33% were between 50 and 100 μm, a range recommended as an achievable optimum for the ultra-low-volume application of Metarhizium flavoviride. The role of the exhaust nozzle sprayer as a tool for the application of M. flavoviride for locust control is discussed with reference to other vehicle-mounted ultra-low-volume sprayers. © 1997 SCI  相似文献

Laboratory and greenhouse studies were conducted to measure the contact angle of primisulfuron droplets with and without surfactants on the leaf surfaces of barnyardgrass and green foxtail, to determine the primisulfuron activity on these weed species, and to examine the spray deposit of primisulfuron with and without surfactants on the leaf surface of green foxtail using scanning electron microscopy. A non-ionic surfactant (NIS) and an organosilicone wetting agent (OWA) were used. The contact angles of 1 μL droplets were measured on the leaf surface using a goniometer. The activity of primisulfuron on barnyardgrass and green foxtail was assessed at 3 weeks after treatment based on visual injury and the fresh weight. The contact angles of the droplets of primisulfuron on the adaxial surface of the barnyardgrass and green foxtail leaves were 152° and 127°, respectively, when applied without surfactant. The addition of either surfactant markedly reduced the contact angle for both weed species, which was lowest when the OWA was added to primisulfuron. The percentage injury of barnyardgrass was very low, even at the higher rate of primisulfuron, regardless of the surfactant. Primisulfuron at 40 g ha−1 controlled 43% of green foxtail without surfactant, which increased to 65% with the NIS and 83% with the OWA. Primisulfuron with a surfactant markedly reduced the fresh weight of green foxtail compared with primisulfuron applied alone, regardless of the primisulfuron rate and surfactant type. The scanning electron micrographs showed a uniform deposit of spray droplets, with close contact of the droplets to the leaf epicuticular surface in green foxtail in the presence of a surfactant compared with no surfactant. The enhanced primisulfuron activity on green foxtail with surfactants was related to the reduced contact angle and uniform deposition of the primisulfuron spray droplets on the leaf surface.  相似文献

The insecticidal activities against houseflies (Musca domestica L.) and mustard beetles (Phaedon cochleariae Fab.) of 29 new 5-benzyl-3-furylmethyl 2,2-dimethyl-cyclopropane-carboxylates are compared with those of the corresponding chrysanthe-mate (bioresmethrin) to assess the influence of non-ethylenic and isobutenyl substituents at position 3 of the cyclopropane ring. Of the new groups investigated, only 3-methoxyiminomethyl gives equal or enhanced activity; 3-(2-furyl) esters are moderately effective, but 3-phenyl and 3-alkoxycarbonyl compounds show weak activity. A 3-(2,2,2-trihaloethyl) compound was more active than compounds with other saturated groups, such as isobutyl.  相似文献

The insecticidal activities against houseflies (Musca domestica L.) and mustard beetles (Phaedon cochleariae Fab.) of the chrysanthemate bioresmethrin, and of 31 related 5-benzyl-3-furylmethyl 2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylates with alkenyl, alkadienyl or alkoxycarbonylalkenyl substituents at position 3 of the cyclopropane ring are compared to determine the relative influence of the isobutenyl sidechain (as in chrysanthemates) and of the other side chains. Several substituents, in particular (E)- or (Z)-butadienyl or -pentadienyl, give considerably greater activity than isobutenyl but alkoxycarbonyl compounds are less potent.  相似文献

以亿丰丸山3WP-500CN型号自走式喷杆喷雾机为研究对象,以诱惑红85作为指示剂,测定了6种喷雾助剂 (红太阳、倍力、迈丝、融透、印楝油和哈速腾)、3种喷头 (TEEJET-VP80015、ASJ-VP110015和LICHENG-VP11003) 以及3种喷雾压力 (0.2、0.4 和0.6 MPa) 对农药沉积利用率、药液雾化性能 (D50值雾滴密度等)、雾滴分布均匀性等喷雾参数的影响,以及240 g/L噻呋酰胺悬浮剂对水稻纹枯病防治效果及水稻产量的影响。结果表明:采用TEEJET-VP80015喷头,在0.4 MPa喷雾压力条件下,助剂哈速腾雾滴分布均匀性显著高于其他助剂,变异系数为0.11,同时对雾滴估计沉积量 (45.74 μL/cm2) 与分布跨度 (1.29) 的影响显著高于其他助剂;助剂迈丝对雾滴密度 (103.78个/cm2) 和农药沉积利用率 (83.88%) 的影响均显著高于其他助剂。采用TEEJET-VP80015喷头,在未添加助剂条件下,不同喷雾压力对雾滴分布跨度、雾滴附着率和农药沉积利用率影响差异显著,其中在0.6 MPa压力下,分布跨度为1.18,雾滴附着率为33.32%,农药沉积利用率为78.19%。在未添加助剂、0.4 MPa喷雾压力条件下,喷头LICHENG-VP11003对雾滴分布均匀性的影响显著高于另外两种喷头,变异系数为0.12,同时对雾滴覆盖率 (69.37%)、雾滴估计沉积量 (42.77 μL/cm2) 和农药沉积利用率 (75.79%) 的影响也显著高于另外两种喷头。各测定条件下,240 g/L噻呋酰胺悬浮剂对水稻纹枯病的防治效果与雾化性能和雾化参数结果一致,其中添加助剂迈丝后防治效果达到89.27%,显著高于添加其他助剂,增大喷雾压力到0.6 MPa,防治效果达到88.67%,显著高于其他压力条件;采用TEEJET-VP80015喷头,在0.4 MPa喷雾压力下,水稻产量为8301 kg/hm2,显著高于人工喷雾。因此,助剂与喷头类型均对自走式喷杆喷雾机施药时的农药沉积利用率、雾滴分布均匀性以及雾滴参数和雾化效果有显著的影响,在适当的喷雾压力下添加助剂可提高农药的防治效果。  相似文献

A sample of houseflies initially collected from a pig farm and found to be resistant to bendiocarb, DDT, gamma-HCH, pyrethrins + piperonyl butoxide (PB), tetrachlorvinphos and trichlorfon, was tested for resistance to knockdown by other toxicants. At the KD50 response level, resistance factors were obtained for: permethrin (× 141), deltamethrin (×96), bioresmethrin + PB (×37), resmethrin + PB (×33), fenitrothion (×94), bromophos (×58), iodofenphos (×42), pirimiphos-methyl (×30), dichlorvos (×22), dimethoate (×9), diazinon (×8), methomyl (×4) and methomyl + PB (×4). The slopes of the dose–response lines were lower for the farm strain than for a susceptible strain. This resulted in an increase of resistance factors at the KD95 level by an average of × 1.6. The houseflies on the farm could not be controlled using space sprays of pyrethrins + PB, although resistance to this toxicant was only ×12. BACKGROUND: Public health agencies may apply aerosolized synergized pyrethrin over wetlands repeatedly to control mosquitoes. This concerns wildlife managers because studies have shown the accumulation of pyrethroids, which are chemically similar to pyrethrin, in sediments in amounts that can be toxic to invertebrates. The authors tested whether repeated applications of synergized pyrethrin over wetlands caused mortality of two aquatic invertebrates: the zooplankton Daphnia magna Straus and a mayfly, Callibaetis californicus Banks. Fifteen wetland mesocosms were either exposed to repeated pyrethrin sprays or were protected by lids. Invertebrates in screened cages were placed in mesocosms before the fifth and eleventh spray, and directly into wetlands before spray 11. Six mesocosms were exposed to spray deposition. Caged adult mosquitoes were used to verify that sprays drifted over mesocosms. Sediments were analyzed for insecticide residues.RESULTS: There were no detectable effects of synergized pyrethrin on 36 h survival of Daphnia or mayflies, but most exposed adult mosquitoes died. Some exposed sediments yielded pyrethrin (< or =34.5 ng g(-1)); most showed piperonyl butoxide (PBO) (< or =14.9 ng g(-1)).CONCLUSIONS: Deposition of aerosolized 25% pyrethrin + 5% PBO may contaminate wetlands, but its application at rates used for mosquito control did not produce detectable effects on indicator species.  相似文献

The repellency of fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Miller)-containing products (5% aerosol and 8% cream) against mosquitoes was compared with those of citronella oil, geranium oil and deet, as well as three commercial repellents, Baby Keeper cream containing IR3535, MeiMei cream containing citronella and geranium oils, and Repellan S aerosol containing 19% N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide (deet) under laboratory and field conditions. In a laboratory study with female Aedes aegypti (L), fennel oil exhibited good repellency in a release-in-cage test and repellency in skin and patch tests of the oil was comparable with those of citronella and geranium oils. In paddy field tests with five human volunteers, 5% and 8% fennel oil-containing aerosol and cream produced 84% and 70% repellency, respectively, at 90 min after exposure, whereas Baby Keeper cream and MeiMei cream gave 71% and 57% repellency at 90 min after exposure, respectively, and Repellan S aerosol gave 89% repellency at 210 min. The species and ratio of mosquitoes collected were the genera Culex (44.1%), Anopheles (42.2%), Aedes (7.8%) and Armigeres (5.9%). Fennel oil-containing products could be useful for protection from humans and domestic animals from vector-borne diseases and nuisance caused by mosquitoes.  相似文献

Various isomeric mixtures of pyrethroids were examined in topical application tests against houseflies, Musca domestica. On the basis of the activities of the separate isomers of 5-benzyl-3-furylmethyl (±)-cis,trans-chrysanthemate, it was shown that when combined in pairs to give the (±)-trans or (±)-cis or (+)-cis,trans mixtures the observed mortalities did not differ from those expected by simple additive action calculated by the harmonic mean. In contrast the (±)-cis,trans mixture showed considerable antagonism with a mortality only 60% of that expected. Similar evaluations using the separate and combined isomers of bioallethrin [(R,S)-3-allyl-2-methyl-4-oxocyclopent-2-enyl (allethronyl) ( + )-trans-[(1R,3R)-chrysanthemate] and the corresponding (+)-cis-(1R,3S)-chrysanthemate indicate antagonism calculated to be correlated with the content of the (R)-isomer of the alcoholic moiety. Hence the activity of the most active isomer of the “allethrin” series, (S)-3-allyl-2-methyl-4-oxocyclopent-2-enyl ( + )-trans-(1R,3R)-chrysanthemate, (S)-bioallethrin, is not fully realised unless it is present in pure form and a substantial part of the value of bioresmethrin (5-benzyl-3-furylmethyl ( + )-trans-chrysanthemate] as a killing agent is lost when the racemic form is used. In racemic mixtures there is mutual antagonism between pairs of isomers so that considerable masking of activity occurs.  相似文献

提高农药的有效利用率是植保工作者非常关心的问题。本文阐述了农药有效利用率的广义和狭义涵义,并分析了农药使用中存在的药剂浪费、有效利用率低的问题。根据喷雾技术中的“剂量传递”过程,分析了农药有效利用率的狭义涵义,在春季果园和作物苗期,常规喷雾法的农药有效利用率只有20%~30%;在夏秋季果园和作物中后期,随着作物叶面积系数(LAI)的增加,农药的有效利用率可达到50%~60%。论文分析了造成农药有效利用率低的原因,提出喷雾技术的优化措施:(1)大田喷雾时采用机动喷杆喷雾替代背负式手动常规喷雾,可以改善雾滴沉积分布的均匀性;(2)添加喷雾助剂可以提高药液在靶标表面的润湿性;(3)优化雾滴粒径,采用细雾滴替代粗雾滴可以提高雾滴的中靶率;(4)降低施药液量可以减少药液流失;(5)加装挡板可以减少雾滴飘失等。通过以上技术的优化,可以大幅度提高农药的有效利用率,达到减量增效的目的。  相似文献
