The phospholipid and sphingolipid composition of milk is of considerable interest regarding their nutritional and functional properties. The objective of this article was to determine the lipid composition of the milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) of milk from cows fed a diet rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids. The experiments were performed with 2 groups of 6 cows feeding on (i) maize silage ad libitum (+ grassland hay, mixture of cereals, soyabean meal) or (ii) the maize silage-based diet supplemented with extruded linseed (bringing a lipid proportion of 5% of dry matter). The phospholipid and sphingolipid composition of the MFGM was determined using HPLC/ELSD. The fatty acid (FA) composition of total lipids and phospholipids was determined using GC. As expected, the linseed-supplemented diet decreased the saturated FA and increased the unsaturated FA content in milk fat. MFGM in milk from cows fed the diet rich in polyunsaturated FA resulted in (i) a higher amount of phospholipids (+ 18%), which was related to a smaller size of milk fat globules (ii) an increase of 30% (w/w) of the concentration in sphingomyelin, (iii) a higher content in stearic acid (1.7-fold), unsaturated FA (1.36-fold), and C18:1 trans FA: 7.2 +/- 0.5% (3.7-fold). The MFGM contained a higher concentration of unsaturated FA (C18:1, C18:2, and C18:3) and very long-chain FA (C22:0, C23:0, C24:0, EPA, DHA) compared with total lipids extracted from milk. The technological, sensorial, and nutritional consequences of these changes in the lipid composition of the MFGM induced by dietary manipulation remain to be elucidated.  相似文献

Oil quality and content were analyzed in 33 accessions from 13 wild species and 10 accessions of cultivated oat. Wild oat species tended to have higher oil and 18:1 fatty acid (FA) contents and lower amounts of 18:2 and 18:3 FAs as compared to cultivated oats. In addition to common FAs, minor amounts of several hydroxy and epoxy FAs were also present in the oat oil and mainly confined to specific lipid classes. These unusual FAs included the previously reported 15-hydroxy 18:2 (Delta9,12) (avenoleic acid) mostly found among polar lipids and a novel 7-hydroxyhexadecanoic acid located to 1,2-diacylglycerol. The present study highlights the potential of making use of the existing germplasm, consisting of wild oat species, in breeding programs for achieving new oat varieties that produce a range of oils with different FA compositions as well as having high oil contents. However, in one matter, oats apparently lack genetic diversity and that is for oil qualities that are highly enriched in the omega 3 (omega-3) FA 18:3. Consequently, developing oat cultivars with highly unsaturated oils will need involvement of other techniques such as biotechnology.  相似文献

The diet of earthworms includes soil organic matter, soil microbes and other microfauna, but the relative contribution of these dietary components to earthworm nutrition is not well known. Analysis of fatty acid (FA) profiles can reveal trophic relationships in soil food webs, leading to a better understanding of the energy and nutrient flows from microbiota to earthworms. The objective of this study was to determine the origin of FAs assimilated by the earthworm Lumbricus terrestris L. We analysed the pattern of FAs in: (i) the bulk soil, (ii) soil in the earthworm gut, (iii) the absorptive tissue of the earthworm gut wall, and (iv) the muscular layers of the earthworm body wall. Multivariate analyses performed on the FA profiles suggest that the microbial community in the earthworm gut differs from that in bulk soil. Diverse bacterial and fungal derived FAs, which earthworms cannot synthesize, were found in the earthworm gut wall and body wall, and in the neutral lipids (storage lipids) of the gut wall. The major compounds isolated were 20:4ω6, 20:5ω3 and 18:2ω6, followed by the monoenoic 18:1ω7 and 18:1ω9c, and the saturated 18:0. The microbial FA assemblage in the gut wall resembled the gut soil more than the bulk soil, and the body wall of L. terrestris showed the same microbial derived FA pattern as the gut wall, although at reduced concentrations. We propose the existence of a specific microbial community in the earthworm gut that provides FAs to the earthworm. It appears that L. terrestris may derive more of its energy and nutrients from gut specific microbiota than from microbiota already present in the ingested soil, based on the trophic relationships revealed through FA analysis.  相似文献

To assess the potential of fatty acid (FA) compositions to act as biomarkers in the soil food web, two species of Collembola, Folsomia candida and Proisotoma minuta, were switched to four possible diets: Cladosporium cladosporioides (a common soil fungus), Panagrellus redivivus (a bacteria feeding nematode), Zea mays (maize) and Alnus glutinosa (alder). The change in FA content of the Collembola was observed over the following 39 days. The four diets produced significant shifts in the FA compositions of the Collembola, with P. redivivus causing the most extreme changes; Collembola fed P. redivivus gained complex FA compositions similar to those of the nematode diet. Changes in the relative abundances of some FAs were found to follow negative exponential curves, as the components either accumulated in, or were removed from, the FA pool in the Collembola; abundance half-lives varied between 0.5 and 22.4 days, indicating that Collembolan FA compositions changed readily with the input of new exogenous components. The results demonstrate that Collembolan FA compositions are influenced by diet, and that the abundances of FAs such as i15:0, i17:0 and 18:1(n-7) may be used as biomarkers of nematode consumption by Collembola. In contrast, the C20 polyunsaturated FAs cannot be used as biomarkers for nematode predation as Collembola possess the ability to biosynthesise high abundances of these compounds when not provided by the diet.  相似文献

The lipid composition of Collembola and their potential food resources was assessed in three deciduous forest stands, in order to gain insight into food web linkages under field conditions. Fatty acids (FAs) previously assigned as trophic markers in laboratory experiments were used to investigate feeding strategies in situ. As potential food sources soil microbiota and plant debris were characterised by their phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) composition. Both the amount and the pattern of PLFAs differed between sites and soil depth, in particular the bacterial and plant marker FAs in the upper soil layer. Thus, the availability of resources for micro-detritivores varied due to forest and soil layer. The lipid composition of vital and senescent beech leaves was predominantly influenced by metabolic status and represented a quite homogenous FA resource across forest stands. Comparing Folsomia quadrioculata, Lepidocyrtus lignorum, Neanura muscorum and Pogonognathellus longicornis between the different forests revealed FA profiles to be predominantly affected by site, suggesting a diet shift depending on resources at hand. However, species-specific differences in individual FAs occurred, likely related to feeding strategy and physiological activity. Lipids of Collembola comprised low amounts of bacterial marker FAs, and bacterial consumption may occur to some extent, particularly on Gram-positives. The marker FA for predatory feeding, 20:1ω9, was found in several species, although in low amounts. This contradicts known feeding habits and caution is advisable in using 20:1ω9 as trophic marker. Overall, as indicated by high proportions of oleic (18:1ω9) or linoleic (18:2ω6,9) acid, most species were either plant litter or fungal feeders, with some transitions. The ratio 18:1ω9/18:2ω6,9 is proposed as a tool to distinguish between these two major feeding strategies in Collembola.  相似文献

Abstract

Fulvic acids (FAs) are an important dynamic component of soils that may be affected by soil management. Carbon‐13 cross‐polarization total sideband suppression nuclear magnetic resonance (CP‐TOSS 13C NMR) was used to examine the effect of cover crop systems on the characteristics of fulvic acid fractions. FA was isolated from soils with the following treatments: 1) vetch/rye, 2) rye alone, and 3) check (no cover crops) with varying nitrogen fertilizers. Preliminary NMR results indicate that FA from the rye alone system both with and without nitrogen fertilizers contains less aliphatic carbon (0–108 ppm) than that from the other two treatments. Based on the elemental composition analysis result, C∶N ratio of FA from rye alone cover with or without nitrogen fertilizer is lower than FA from vetch/rye cover system. These data suggest that farming systems affect the FA compositions.  相似文献

Fatty acid (FA) analysis is becoming increasingly important for investigating trophic interactions in soil food webs. FA profiles of neutral lipids are affected by diet, and the occurrence and amount of certain FAs can reflect feeding strategies. However, to draw conclusions on feeding strategies in the field it is necessary to know physiological parameters of fatty acid metabolism such as the detection time and storage period of FAs. In this study we investigated the chronological change of FA biomarkers in the Collembola Heteromurus nitidus when switched between different food sources: leaves (Tilia europaea), a fungus (Chaetomium globosum) and two bacteria (Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens). Additionally, we followed the change of bacterial FA biomarkers during starvation. After 14 days of food deprivation bacterial FAs were still detectable in a sufficient amount to use them as dietary markers. Switching diet experiments demonstrated that FAs typical for a specific diet are already present after one day and are still detectable after 14 days of feeding on a different food source, suggesting that FA analysis can integrate the food choice of Collembola over a longer period of time, in contrast to snapshot methods such as gut content analysis.  相似文献

Fatty acid (FA) analysis is used as a promising tool to investigate trophic interactions in soil food webs. The FA profile of neutral lipids in consumers is affected by the diet, and the occurrence and amount of certain FAs can reflect feeding strategies. We investigated the lipid composition of the Collembola Folsomia candida, Heteromurus nitidus and Protaphorura fimata with the fungus Chaetomium globosum as food source. The impact of environmental temperature and life stage was assessed, with special respect to linoleic acid (18:2ω6,9) as a marker FA for fungal feeding. In all Collembola species the ratio of C16/C18 in neutral lipid fatty acids (NLFAs) increased with decreasing temperature. In the NLFAs of F. candida and H. nitidus the Unsaturation Index and the amount of 18:2ω6,9 decreased with temperature, whereas in P. fimata effects were the opposite. The composition of phospholipid fatty acids (PLFAs) differed between species, but was little affected by temperature. The degree of unsaturation in NLFAs increased with the age of Collembola, mainly due to higher amounts of 18:2ω6,9 and a lower proportion of 18:1ω9. The biomarker linoleic acid represented over 20% of FAs in all fungal feeding Collembola. Despite considerable influence of temperature and life stage on its proportion, the amount was always higher than in individuals reared on other diets. This suggests that linoleic acid can serve as marker for fungal feeding independent of such physiological variations in Collembola.  相似文献

Increasing the knowledge on dietary fat composition, mainly the minor components, will improve the nutritional value of foods and their labeling. In this study, we examined the trans-octadecenoic acid (C18:1) composition of Emmental cheeses enriched in unsaturated fatty acids (FA) and manufactured with milks produced by cows selected to produce small and large fat globules. The FA composition of the milks was not significantly ( P > 0.05) different from the FA composition of the corresponding Emmental cheeses. Increasing the unsaturated FA content of the cheeses using dietary manipulations lead to an increase in the trans-C18:1 and changed their isomeric profiles. In milk fat produced with the linseed-enriched diet, the trans-10 C18:1 concentration was greater than trans-11 C18:1 (vaccenic acid), which is classically the major trans-C18:1 in milk fat. The content in trans-C18:1 and more particularly in trans-10 C18:1 was negatively correlated with the size of fat globules ( r (2) = 0. 82 and 0.87, respectively) and related to milk fat depression. The trans-C18:1 content was negatively correlated with the saturated FA (slope = -0.35; r (2) = 0.81) and positively correlated with the unsaturated (slope = 0.29; r (2) = 0.85) and monounsaturated (slope = 0.32; r (2) = 0.81) FA. Focusing on the health-related considerations of fat in food products, further nutritional studies are needed to elucidate the role of trans-C18:1 isomers.  相似文献

The fatty acid (FA) and dimethylacetal profiles of the sn-1 and sn-2 positions of different phospholipid (PL) classes from skeletal muscle of rats as affected by dietary FA profiles were studied. Rats were fed either a control diet, an olive oil-enriched diet, or a sunflower oil-enriched diet. The FA composition of both positions of the studied PL classes was affected by diet to different extents. The FA composition of the sn-2 position of phosphatidylserine was the most influenced by diet, while phosphatidylinositol was less affected by dietary modification. The FA profile of phosphatidylcholine reflected consumed FA better than any other studied PL. Thus, olive oil rats showed higher oleic acid (C18:1 n-9) contents in both positions of phosphatidylcholine, and sunflower oil rats had higher proportions of arachidonic acid (C20:4 n-6) in the sn-1 position of this PL class. Dimethylacetals were scarcely affected by diet, and only the dimethylacetal composition of phosphatidylethanolamine showed significant modifications.  相似文献

Stearidonic acid soybean oil (SDASO) is a plant source of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs). Solvent-free enzymatic interesterification was used to produce structured lipids (SLs) in a 1 L stir-batch reactor with a 1:2 substrate mole ratio of SDASO to tripalmitin, at 65 °C for 18 h. Two SLs were synthesized using immobilized lipases, Novozym 435 and Lipozyme TL IM. Free fatty acids (FFAs) were removed by short-path distillation. SLs were characterized by analyzing FFA and FA (total and positional) contents, iodine and saponification values, melting and crystallization profiles, tocopherols, and oxidative stability. The SLs contained 8.15 and 8.38% total stearidonic acid and 60.84 and 60.63% palmitic acid at the sn-2 position for Novozym 435 SL and Lipozyme TL IM SL, respectively. The SLs were less oxidatively stable than SDASO due to a decrease in tocopherol content after purification of the SLs. The saponification values of the SLs were slightly higher than that of the SDASO. The melting profiles of the SLs were similar, but crystallization profiles differed. The triacylglycerol (TAG) molecular species of the SLs were similar to each other, with tripalmitin being the major TAG. SDASO's major TAG species comprised stearidonic and oleic acids or stearidonic, α-linolenic, and γ-linolenic acids.  相似文献

The aim of this in situ study was to investigate the fatty acid (FA) composition and content in roots and shoots of Lolium perenne and Trifolium repens, grown under heavy metal stress (Cd, Pb, Zn). The composition of FA was quite similar for the two plants and the two organs; main FA were palmitic acid (C16:0), oleic acid (C18:1), linoleic acid (C18:2) and linolenic acid (C18:3). For both plants, the major FA that characterized the roots was C18:2 whereas C18:3 was the prominent FA in shoots. For the first sampling (S1), in the roots of L. perenne and T. repens, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) were affected by metal contamination while, in the second sampling (S2), PUFA were affected in the shoots of the two plants. This alteration of PUFA was well correlated with the bioaccumulation factor of metals which decreased in roots and increased in shoots with the time. Moreover, a positive correlation was found between the PUFA decrease and the malondialdehyde (MDA) content, indicating the occurrence of a lipid peroxidation induced by the metal stress.  相似文献

The paper assess the variability of fat content and fatty acids profiles in seeds of a white lupin (Lupinus albus L.) domestic collection. The initial material comprised 371 accessions originated from 30 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, North- and South America and Australia. According to data given by accession donors the material is divided into four classes of origin: wild lines, landraces, lines created by man and cultivars. Variability of fat content and fatty acids composition were estimated in seeds of each accession. The average fat content for analyzed collection is 9.81%. The broadest range of fat content was noticed for landraces and cultivars as compared to narrowest represented by lines created by man. Fat content ranged from 6.9% (induced mutant Wt 95497) to 14.1% (Polish cultivar Wt 95420 and the landrace Wt 95212 from Jordan). From a dietetic point of view, oil quality is more important than oil quantity in lupin seeds. On average the fatty acid (FA) in examined accessions ranked in following order of abundance: oleic acid (C18:1) > linoleic acid (C18:2) > linolenic acid (C18:3) > palmitic acid (C16:0) > eicosenoic acid (C20:1) > stearic acid (C18:0) ≈ erucic acid (C22:1). In respect to unsaturated fatty acid (UFA), monounsaturated oleic acid in each of estimated classes of accessions was predominant and most abundant (55.7%) in broad range of minimum–maximum values from 41.2 to 66.2%. The second examined monounsaturated fatty acid was erucic acid (1.74%) found in seeds of almost all studied accessions. An exception were four accessions defined similarly to rapeseeds as “zero erucic” forms. In seeds of few accessions a content of erucic acid exceeded 3%. Among polyunsaturated fatty acids linoleic FA (ω?6) dominated followed by linolenic FA (ω?3). Both FA were in the range 13.7–33.2% and 5.6–12.8% with mean values on the level 19.6 and 10.1%, respectively. As a consequence, the examined white lupin seeds showed a very favourable ω?3/ω?6 FA ratio (0.51), ranging from 0.21 to 0.87, much higher than that of most vegetable oils. Fat content was positively correlated with stearic and oleic fatty acids and negatively with palmitic, linoleic, linolenic and erucic acid.  相似文献

The gut of many soil arthropods contains a complex and mutualistic microbial community that usually assists the host with digestion. The same is probably true for earthworms, but the nature and function of the microbiota inhabiting their gut are virtually unknown. In this paper, we studied the microbial community in the gut content of the earthworm Lumbricus terrestris L. and in the bulk soil by assessing their fatty acid (FA) profiles. Our results indicated that the total FA concentration in the earthworm gut was about two orders of magnitude greater than in bulk soil, with higher concentration of bacteria (up to 500-fold), fungal and metazoan-derived FAs. Several FAs appearing in the gut were not present in bulk soil. PCA analysis revealed that the microbial community in the gut was different from that in the bulk soil, and that significant changes occurred between midgut, hindgut and proctodeum. Cluster analysis of bacterial and fungal-derived FA profiles grouped the bulk soil samples apart from the gut samples, where the hindgut profiles were more closely related to those from the proctodeum than those from the midgut. We showed important changes in the FA concentration and composition occurring at very small spatial scales inside the gut of the earthworm L. terrestris. These results have implications for understanding earthworm digestion, and they suggest that the microbial community in the earthworm gut is not a casual combination of microorganisms already present in the soil. Further study is needed to determine how these gut microbial communities are involved in earthworm digestion processes.  相似文献

Ten lots of mapará (Hypophthalmus sp.), captured from the Amazon River, Brazil, were analyzed for their lipid content and fatty acid composition. This knowledge would allow for the development of adequate processing methods and the formulation of therapeutic diets. Separation into neutral and phospholipids was accomplished by silica-gel column chromatography. Fat from the muscular tissue and from the orbital cavity of the mapará was analyzed by high-resolution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in two different seasonal periods. There were high levels of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids in the total and neutral lipid with the principal components 16:0, 18:1omega9, 18:0, 16:1omega7, 14:0, 18:3omega3, and 18:1omega7 in both seasons. In the phospholipids there was a high level of polyunsaturated fatty acids, including primarily 16:0, 18:1omega9, 18:0, 16:1omega7, 22:6omega3, 20:4omega6, 18:3omega3, and 20:5omega3. The ratio omega3/omega6 was the same in the muscular tissue and in the orbital cavity, in both seasonal periods. The muscle tissue could be used in diets that need high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids, but use of the head to produce an omega3 fatty-acid-rich oil still requires greater study with respect to its economic viability.  相似文献

Fatty acid (FA) analysis is used increasingly to investigate the trophic structure of soil animal food webs as the technique allows separation of the role of detrital resources such as bacteria, fungi and plant material for consumer nutrition. The applicability of FAs as biomarkers for different diets has been verified for Collembola and Nematoda. However, for the analysis of whole food webs it is crucial to know whether marker FA are valid for different taxa and whether they are transferred along the food chain to higher trophic levels, i.e. predators. Top-predators are integrators of lower level energy fluxes in food webs; therefore analysis of their FAs may allow to identify trophic pathways and to separate bacterial vs. fungal based energy channels. Chilopoda and Arachnida are among the main predators in soil food webs. Our aim was to test the applicability of marker FAs for these two predator taxa and to verify the trophic transfer of marker FAs of different basal resources via first order consumers into predators, i.e. over three trophic levels. Therefore, we investigated the transfer of FAs from different basal resources [fungi (Chaetomium globosum), plant leaf litter (Tilia europaea), Gram-positive (Bacillus amyloliquefaciens) and Gram-negative bacteria (Stenotrophomonas maltophilia)] via Collembola (Heteromurus nitidus) as first order consumers into predators [Lithobius forficatus (Chilopoda) and Pardosa lugubris (Arachnida)]. Fatty acid profiles of predators of food chains with different basal resources differed significantly. Marker FAs of basal resources were clearly detectable in predators, suggesting that FA analysis allows to separate trophic channels of soil food webs. By reflecting basal resources, FAs of predators allow tracking energy/resource fluxes through the food web and thereby clarifying the relative importance of bacterial vs. fungal vs. plant resources for soil animal food webs.  相似文献

Various composts contain a significant amount of humic substances including humic acid (HA) and fulvic acids (FAs). The FA fraction in soils is considered to be sensitive to agronomic and environmental factors. In this study, three fractions of humic substances, HA (MW > 1000 Da), FA (MW > 1000 Da), and FA (MW < 1000 Da) were extracted from swine manure-based compost and characterized, and then, their reactivities were correlated with heavy metals. Compositions of the three fractions of humic substances were characterized by elemental and total acidity analyses and electron spin resonance (ESR), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance with cross-polarization and magic-angle spinning spectroscopic techniques. Elemental analyses indicated that HA has higher contents of C, H, N, and S than those of FAs. However, FA (MW > 1000) and especially FA (MW < 1000) have higher contents of O than that of HA (MW > 1000). The g values of the ESR spectra of the three fractions showed that the organic free radical characteristics and the widths of the spectra and free radical concentrations of the three fractions are significantly different. The FTIR spectra indicated that HA (MW > 1000) is abundant in C=C bonds while FA (MW > 1000), especially FA (MW < 1000), are abundant in C=O bonds. In addition, 13C NMR spectra indicate that carboxyl contents of FA (MW > 1000), especially FA (MW < 1000), are higher than that of HA (MW > 1000). The sequence of the reactivity in terms of acidic functional groups was FA (MW < 1000) > FA (MW > 1000) > HA (MW > 1000). Elemental and functional group compositions of the three fractions significantly correlated with reported reactivities with heavy metals. The application of swine manure-based compost containing HA and FAs fractions to soil and associated environments may thus significantly affect the concerned reactions with organic and inorganic compounds including pollutants.  相似文献

The aim of the present investigation was to quantify the fate of C18 and long chain polyunsaturated dietary fatty acids in the freshwater fish, Murray cod, using the in vivo, whole-body fatty acid balance method. Juvenile Murray cod were fed one of five iso-nitrogenous, iso-energetic, semipurified experimental diets in which the dietary fish oil (FO) was replaced (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100%) with a blended vegetable oil (VO), specifically formulated to match the major fatty acid classes [saturated fatty acids, monounsaturated fatty acids, n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), and n-6 PUFA] of cod liver oil (FO). However, the PUFA fraction of the VO was dominated by C18 fatty acids, while C20/22 fatty acids were prevalent in the FO PUFA fraction. Generally, there was a clear reflection of the dietary fatty acid composition across each of the five treatments in the carcass, fillet, and liver. Lipid metabolism was affected by the modification of the dietary lipid source. The desaturation and elongation of C18 PUFAs increased with vegetable oil substitution, supported by the occurrence of longer and higher desaturated homologous fatty acids. However, increased elongase and desaturase activity is unlikely to fulfill the gap observed in fatty acid composition resulting from decreased highly unsaturated fatty acids intake.  相似文献

The content of trans fat in foods is most commonly determined by summing the levels of individual trans fatty acids (FAs), analyzed as FA methyl esters (FAME) by gas chromatography. Current Official Methods of the American Oil Chemists' Society (AOCS) enable quantitation of total trans fat in foods but were not designed for the determination of transFA isomeric compositions. In the present study, the content of trans fat in 32 representative fast food samples ranged from 0.1 to 3.1 g per serving, as determined according to AOCS Official Method Ce 1j-07. Further analysis of FAME using the 200 m SLB-IL111 ionic liquid column yielded quantitative results of total, trans, saturated, and cis unsaturated fat that were comparable to those of Method Ce 1j-07 and also allowed for the complementary determination of individual trans 18:1, trans 18:2, and trans 18:3 FA isomeric compositions under conditions suitable for routine sample analysis.  相似文献

Annual evolution of muscle lipids fatty acid (FA) from common carp (Cyprinus carpio) has been determined in 2001 through monthly samplings in the reserve pond of Sisaony (SIS series) and Itasy Lake (ITA series) of the Madagascar highlands. Total lipids from muscle were extracted and quantified according to the Bligh and Dyer method. FA identification was performed by GC-MS of FA methyl esters and FA pyrrolidides and led to the identification of 41 FA; routine analyses of FA were made by capillary GC. Principal component analysis (PCA) was performed on the data set to compare FA profiles. Lipid content is low, ranging from 0.91 to 1.73% of wet muscle, with a low stage during the hot season (January-April) and a higher stage during the cold season (July-October). Three FA dominated the FA composition: oleic acid (17.0-21.5%), palmitic acid (13.1-16.1%), and linoleic acid (9.6-13.2%). Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) were present in appreciable amounts: arachidonic acid (AA; 2.9-5.9%), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA; 2.9-6.7%), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA; 1.9-3.4%), and docosapentaenoic acid (DPA; 1.9-4.3%). Two opposite evolution schemes appear within two groups of FA; on the one hand PUFA (both n-3 and n-6 series) show a maximum in August-October and a minimum in January-April, and, on the other hand, oleic, palmitic, and linoleic acids show the opposite maxima and minima. PCA results give confirmation of these evolution schemes, the two groups of FA giving opposite high factor loadings on axis 1. The SIS and ITA series are differentiated by axis 2 by mean of minor FA, mostly odd- and branched-chain. Results indicate that common carp, the second most abundant freshwater fish in Madagascar highlands waters, may be an interesting source of dietary PUFA.  相似文献
