Efficacy of foliar applied fungicides following simulated rainfall for the control of dollar spot (caused by Sclerotinia homoeocarpa F.T. Bennett) was assessed in a two-year field study on creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.) turf maintained as a golf course fairway. The study was conducted as a randomized complete block design with a factorial arrangement. Fluazinam (0.8 kg a.i. ha−1), chlorothalonil (3.79 kg a.i. ha−1) or iprodione (1.5 kg a.i. ha−1) were applied, then subjected to simulated rainfall (2.54-mm) at intervals of 15-, 30-, 60-min post-application, or no simulated rain. In most cases, simulated rainfall occurring ≤60 min post-application had greater disease than no rain plots; however, few differences occurred among rainfall intervals ≤60 min. Fluazinam provided the greatest dollar spot reduction regardless of simulated rainfall interval throughout the study. Chlorothalonil was most susceptible to losses in efficacy due to simulated rainfall, resulting in the greatest disease incidence of those fungicides evaluated. Iprodione was comparable to chlorothalonil during high disease pressure, although during moderate disease pressure it controlled dollar spot for approximately 7 days before disease increased in plots receiving simulated rain compared to those without simulated rain. These data demonstrate that efficacy of fungicides applied for dollar spot control are affected by rain, and differ in their ability to control disease following post-application rain events. Fluazinam, a recently introduced contact fungicide for use on turfgrass, can provide improved control compared to chlorothalonil or iprodione when rain is eminent.  相似文献

During a five-year trial (2007–2011), the efficacy of azoxystrobin (Quadris, 250 g a.i. L−1, Syngenta) in two doses (187.5 g a.i. ha−1 and 250 g a.i. ha−1) and chlorothalonil (Bravo 720-SC, 720 g a.i. L−1, Syngenta) at a rate of 1.44 kg a.i. ha−1 was tested for the control of cucumber downy mildew (CDM). Cultivars that were susceptible or resistant to CDM (Regal and Haros, respectively) were tested for their response to fungicide applications. Differences in both disease severity and yield of the cultivars among resistance levels and fungicide treatments were observed. A highly significant and negative correlation was obtained between AUDPC and yield. Higher yields can be achieved by planting more resistant cultivars in combination with lower doses of fungicides. This is an indication that CDM contributes significantly to yield losses in cucumber production in Serbia. While monitoring the degradation of azoxystrobin residues, a decrease in residue levels to 1.0 mg kg−1 below the maximum residue level (MRL) was observed at the end of the pre-harvest interval (PHI).  相似文献

Phosphite has been shown to suppress some diseases in different plant species but disease control in rice has not been investigated. In 2012/13 and 2013/14 potassium phosphite was sprayed at 1775 g ha−1 and 3550 g ha−1 in field plots of rice in Uruguay to determine if phosphite alone or in combination with label rates of a mixed strobilurin and triazole fungicide could be used to effectively control stem rot and aggregate sheath spot in irrigated rice. Six treatments consisting of different combinations of potassium phosphite alone or with a fungicide and an unsprayed control were assayed in one application at late-boot to early-heading. Phosphite alone in single and double rate slightly reduced severity and incidence of stem rot and produced a small yield increase over the unsprayed control. Fungicide at a 50% label rate with phosphite reduced stem rot severity and incidence to a similar level as the fungicide alone applied at the label rate. Disease severity was reduced by approximately 25% and incidence by 17–20% when compared with untreated control. Yield increase was 5% for both treatments over the unsprayed control. Fungicide combined with phosphite at single and double rates reduced stem rot severity by 40–45% and incidence by 34–38% when compared with untreated control, with yield increased by 10% over the unsprayed control and 5% over plots treated with a fungicide. These results indicate that a single application of potassium phosphite combined with fungicide can be used efficiently to manage of rice stem diseases.  相似文献

The study evaluated the effects of pre-emergence herbicides and their rates [oxadiazon (0.5 and 1 kg ai ha−1), pendimethalin (1 and 2 kg ai ha−1), and pretilachlor with safener (0.6 kg ai ha−1)], and time of soil saturation establishment after herbicide application [1, 3, 5, and 7 days after spray (DAS)] in controlling the six major rice weeds, and their phytotoxic effects on rice seedling growth. All herbicides provided 100% control of Echinochloa colona, Echinochloa crus-galli, Leptochloa chinensis, Cyperus iria, and Amaranthus spinosus. Murdannia nudiflora was 100% controlled by oxadiazon and pretilachlor with safener, but poorly controlled (22–75%) by pendimethalin. Pendimethalin at 2 kg ai ha−1 was more effective than at 1 kg ai ha−1 in reducing the biomass of the stem, leaf, and root of M. nudiflora irrespective of timing of soil saturation. Rice plant height was reduced to a maximum (77–96%) by pendimethalin at 2.0 kg ai ha−1 followed by oxadiazon at 1.0 kg ai ha−1 (38–70%) compared to the non-treated control. In contrast, the tallest rice plants were observed in the non-treated control and those treated with pretilachlor with safener which had 80–100% rice plant survival. The lowest rice plant survival of 0, 6, 7, and 16% was found in the soil applied with pendimethalin at 2 kg ai ha−1 and saturated at 1, 3, 5, and 7 DAS, respectively, which was followed by oxadiazon at 1 kg ai ha−1. All herbicides except pretilachlor with safener reduced SPAD values with early soil saturation, which improved with delay in soil saturation timing. Pendimethalin at 2 kg ai ha−1 reduced the SPAD values of rice plants by 100–164% relative to the non-treated control and produced the highest phytotoxicity symptoms. Pendimethalin also reduced rice shoot biomass more than oxadiazon, which was compounded by early soil saturation after herbicide application. Pretilachlor with safener was the only herbicide that exhibited low phytotoxic symptoms on rice plants and did not reduce leaf, stem, root, and shoot biomass of rice. Percent reduction in rice leaf, stem, root, and shoot biomass by the different herbicides was in the order of pendimethalin 2 > oxadiazon 1 > pendimethalin 1 > oxadiazon 0.5 > pretilachlor with safener 0.6 kg ai ha−1. Each herbicide treatment reduced rice growth parameters as soil saturation was delayed in the order of 1 DAS > 3 DAS > 5 DAS > 7 DAS. The study suggests that soil water content and herbicide rates are important factors in influencing herbicide phytotoxicity in rice. The application of herbicides should be avoided when the soil is too wet, and irrigation should be delayed at least one week after herbicide application.  相似文献

Field experiments were conducted to study the efficacy of 12 herbicide treatments for volunteer rice control with, or without, winter-flooding in Stuttgart and Rohwer, Arkansas, USA over two years (2012–13 and 2013–14). Herbicides were applied either in the fall or at 35 d prior to planting rice in the spring. Commercially harvested Clearfield™ long-grain inbred rice 'CL152' was used as volunteer rice seed, broadcasted and lightly incorporated in October, 2012 and 2013. 'Jupiter' (medium-grain inbred, conventional rice) was planted in May as the rice crop. Winter-flood was initiated soon after the fall herbicide treatments were applied and terminated in February. Winter-flood reduced volunteer rice germination by 34% in 2013 and by 40% in 2014. Some fall herbicide treatments, without winter flood, generally caused more injury to the rice crop planted in the spring than the winter-flooded treatments. Fall application of pyroxasulfone (0.12 kg ha−1), flumioxazin (0.14 kg ha−1), and sulfentrazone (0.34 kg ha−1) as well as pre-plant application of pyroxasulfone (0.12 kg ha−1) and 2,4-D (2.24 kg ha−1), resulted in lower volunteer rice infestation, averaged over flood treatments. Pre-plant application of 2,4-D (2.24 kg ha−1), sulfentrazone in the fall (0.34 kg ha−1) and pyroxasulfone pre-plant (0.12 kg ha−1) injured the rice crop by 20%, 23%, and 47%, respectively. Fall application of pyroxasulfone (0.12 kg ha−1) followed by a lower rate of 2,4-D (1.12 kg ha−1) 35 d pre-plant caused minimal (6%) crop injury and did not reduce yield. This treatment provided better volunteer rice control (73%) than pyroxasulfone alone at 0.12 kg ha−1 applied in the fall (64%). To evaluate the overwintering potential of hybrid and non-hybrid volunteer seeds, these seed types were planted at three depths (0, 7.5, 15 cm) in flooded and non-flooded conditions in a buried-pot experiment at Stuttgart and Rohwer over 2 years. Winter-flood reduced rice germination by 50% in 2013–14 and 40% in 2014–15 (averaged over seed type and burial depth), after 160 d and 130 d of burial, respectively. After the winter, the viability of hybrid seed (germinable + dormant) was higher (13 and 53%) than that of non-hybrid seed (8 and 27%) in both years.  相似文献

Nitrogen fertilizer is applied to supplement soil nitrogen supply to maximize forage brassica crop dry-matter production. However, nitrogen fertilizer applications in excess of that required to maximize growth result in potentially toxic nitrate–nitrogen (NO3–N) concentrations in grazeable plant tissues. Three experiments, two for forage kale at Lincoln (Canterbury) and one for forage rape at Hastings (Hawke's Bay) in New Zealand were grown under different rates of nitrogen (0–500 kg N ha−1) to determine the effect of different rates of nitrogen on NO3–N content of different plant parts of the crops. One of the kale experiments was grown with either full irrigation or no rain and no irrigation over summer, hereafter referred to as summer drought. The NO3–N concentration on a whole plant (weighted average) basis increased from 0·1 mg g−1 dry matter for the control plots to 2·30 mg g−1 for the 500 kg N ha−1 plots for forage kale. It increased from 0·99 for the control plots to 3·37 mg g−1 for the 200 kg N ha−1 plots for forage rape crops. However, NO3–N concentration increased with N supply under the summer-drought plots from an average of 0·33 mg g−1 when ≤120 kg N ha−1 was applied to 2·30 mg g−1 for the 240 kg N ha−1 treatments but was unaffected by N supply under irrigation. The NO3–N concentrations were higher in the stems and the petiole (which included the midrib of the leaf) than leaves in all three experiments. The NO3–N concentration was highest at the bottom of the kale stem and decreased towards the top. We recommend N application rates based on soil tests results, and for conditions similar to the current studies up to 300 kg N ha−1 under irrigation and adjusted lower N rates for regions prone to dry summers.  相似文献

Net blotch incited by Pyrenophora teres f. teres is an important constraint for barley production in the semi-arid regions of Morocco, reaching epidemic proportions under favorable weather conditions. In this study, we generated 480 epidemics. These epidemics were characterized at five sites and for six different varieties with plants either inoculated by the pathogen or treated with fungicide tilt (propiconazle) 250 a.i. ha−1. The study was conducted in two growing seasons (1995–1996 and 1996–1997). Disease severity and area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) were related to grain yield. Critical-point model (CPM) and multiple-point model (MPM) did not explain the yield variability encountered and were not investigated further. For the same reason, the relationship between the AUDPC and yield was discarded. Disease effect on yield loss was closely related to yield potential in each growing season, and could not be used to predict yield or yield losses. Estimated yield losses due to net blotch varied between 14 and 29% with resistant varieties out yielding susceptible varieties by 39% when there was no disease control and by 56% under fungicide treatment. Varietal resistance is essential to the control of barley net blotch. A response surface model based on grain yield, AUDPC and growth stage explained most of the yield variability (R2=0.94). This model was validated with 13 barley varieties and two mixtures. The fitting of this response surface model predicted grain yields within ±200 kg ha−1 when tested from booting to flowering stages.  相似文献

Integrated disease management options (two sowing dates, three fungicides and 3–6 faba bean genotypes) in managing Ascochyta blight affecting faba bean were evaluated for three cropping seasons (2006/07–2008/09) in northern Syria for their effects on disease parameters, seed infection and dry seed yield. The combined results of the three seasons on disease parameters showed that sowing dates significantly affected final disease severity and area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC); faba bean genotypes significantly affected final disease severity, rate of disease development and AUDPC. The highest AUDPC (255% days) was observed in early than late planted (168% days) faba bean genotypes. The mean AUDPC of faba bean genotypes ranged from 189% days on genotype 1053–1325 to 234% days on ILB-1814. Only faba bean genotypes and fungicides showed significant interactions in affecting final disease severity and AUDPC. Fungicide sprays significantly affected mean percent pod infection and rate of disease development but not mean percent seed infection. Faba bean genotypes showed significant differences in dry seed yield and the yield ranged from 1.7 t ha−1 in cv. Ascot to 2.4 t ha−1 in faba bean genotype 945-105. Improved varieties with Ascochyta blight resistance are not currently released and available for farmers in northern Syria and the integration of early planting (November–December) with one foliar fungicide spray at vegetative stage can help to reduce Ascochyta blight severity, pod and seed infections. Chlorothalonil and azoxystrobin are widely used fungicides to manage Ascochyta blights on food legumes in many countries and one of them could be used depending on their availability and costs to managing faba bean Ascochyta blight in Syria and other Mediterranean type environments.  相似文献

A plant systemic acquired resistance inducer, acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM), was evaluated to determine the efficacy for suppression of Phytophthora blight of squash caused by Phytophthora capsici under field conditions. ASM was applied as foliar sprays before and after transplanting at rates of 17.5, 8.8, and 4.4 g a.i. ha−1. Application of ASM did not significantly reduce final Phytophthora blight incidences in 2 out of 3 field experiments; however, area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) values were reduced significantly by ASM in all experiments conducted. Disease suppression by the three application rates of ASM was not significantly different. To determine the effect of application of ASM in conjunction with standard chemical fungicides, ASM was applied with mefenoxam (Ridomil Gold), copper hydroxide, and mandipropamid (Revus). AUDPC values and final disease incidences were consistently lower in field plots treated by the combination of ASM and standard fungicides than applications of these chemicals alone. Application of ASM resulted in significantly higher squash yield than the non-treated control in 2 of 3 experiments and plots treated with the combined use of ASM and standard fungicides produced the highest yields. These results suggest that ASM may induce plant resistance under field conditions, providing suppression of Phytophthora blight of squash, and that there may be some benefit to the integration of ASM and standard chemical fungicides.  相似文献

Fungicides are commonly applied as prophylactic sprays, with the expectation of increased yield and kernel quality, to control husk spot of macadamia in Australia. However, economic benefits from fungicide applications to control husk spot have rarely been quantified. We investigated the effectiveness, efficiency and economic returns of fungicide spray applications for husk spot control using three different spray application volumes and two dose rates of tank mixtures of carbendazim and cupric hydroxide under commercial macadamia orchard conditions. Husk spot incidence and severity were significantly (P < 0.001) different among the treatments and between the two years. In both years, the rate of fruit abscission was highest in the untreated control followed by low spray application volumes, but reduced with increasing spray volume. The quality and value of nut-in-shell increased when nut abscission was delayed. Poor quality and low nut-in-shell value of $2.85 kg−1 in 2010 and $2.12 kg−1 in 2011 were obtained in the untreated control trees that abscised early in the harvest period compared with the average nut-in-shell value of $2.95 kg−1 in 2010 and $2.46 kg−1 in 2011 in the fungicide treated trees. Gross margins for each fungicide treatment schedule compared to the untreated control averaged over both years showed positive contributions of 20%, 10% and 6% for the high, moderate and low dilute rate volume applications, respectively. Our data further indicates that dilute rate applications at higher volume may be more beneficial and cost-effective than concentrate rate applications in husk spot control programs. Overall, harvest yield increased by 11%–33% when husk spot was controlled using fungicide sprays compared to no fungicide spray applications. The benefit-cost ratios revealed highly significant benefits for the implementation of husk spot management programs.  相似文献

Field experiments were conducted to study the impact of single and multiple flaming on crop injury, yield components, and yield of soybean. The goal of this experiment was to determine the number of the maximum flaming treatments which soybean could tolerate without any yield loss. The treatments consisted of a non-flamed control, and broadcast flaming conducted one time (at VC-unfolded cotyledon, V2-second trifoliate, and V5-fifth trifoliate), two times (each at VC and V2, VC and V5, and V2 and V5 stages), and three times (at VC, V2, and V5 stages) resulting in a total of eight treatments. All plots were kept weed-free for the entire growing season by hand hoeing. A propane dose of 50 kg ha−1 was applied with torches parallel to the crop row and at an operating speed of 4.8 km h−1 for all treatments. The response of soybean was measured as visual injury ratings (at 7 and 28 days after treatment – DAT) as well as effects on yield components and yield. Broadcast flaming conducted once (at VC or V5 stage), as well as twice (at VC and V5 stages) exhibited the lowest injury of about 8% at 28 DAT. Any treatment that contained flaming at V2 stage resulted in more than 70% injury at 28 DAT. The highest crop yields were obtained from the non-flamed control (3.45 t ha−1) and the plots flamed once at VC (3.35 t ha−1), V5 (3.32 t ha−1), and two times at VC and V5 (3.24 t ha−1), which were all statistically similar. Soybean flamed at V2 stage had lower yields (1.03 t ha−1 at V2, 0.46 t ha−1 at VC and V2, and 0.38 t ha−1 at V2 and V5). The lowest yields were in soybean flamed three times (VC, V2, and V5 stages), which yielded only 0.36 t ha−1. These results indicate that soybean could tolerate a maximum of two flaming treatments at VC and V5 growth stages per season without any yield reduction.  相似文献

Long-term field experiments are needed to fully realize positive and negative impacts of conservation tillage and poultry litter application. A study was initiated on a Decatur silt loam soil at the Tennessee Valley Research and Extension Center, Belle Mina, AL, USA in 1996 to evaluate cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) performance with long-term poultry litter (PL) application under different tillages and to study the build up of phosphorus (P) with application of PL. Treatments include incomplete factorial combinations of three tillage systems [conventional till (CT), mulch till (MT), and no-till (NT)], two cropping systems [cotton-fallow and cotton-winter rye (Secale cereale L.)], and two nitrogen sources and rates [100 kg N ha−1 from ammonium nitrate (AN), and 100 and 200 kg N ha−1 from poultry litter (PL)]. Cotton was rotated with corn (Zea mays L.) every third year. Results from 2003 to 2008 showed that all tillages gave similar cotton lint yields with AN at 100 kg N ha−1. Application of PL at 100 kg N ha−1 in NT plots resulted in 12 and 11% yield reductions compared to that of CT and MT, respectively. However, NT plots with higher quantity of PL (200 kg N ha−1) gave similar yields to CT and MT at 100 kg N ha−1. During corn years, higher residual fertility of PL, in terms of grain yields, was observed in NT plots compared to CT and MT. Long-term PL application (100 kg N ha−1 year−1) helped to maintain original soil pH in CT and MT while AN application decreased soil pH. In NT plots, PL at 100 kg N ha−1 was not sufficient to maintain original soil pH, but 200 kg N ha−1 maintained original pH. Although not-significant, elevated P levels were observed in all tillages compared to original P levels which indicates possibility of P build up in future with further application of PL. Application of PL at double rate (200 kg N ha−1) in NT plots resulted in significant build up of P. Results indicate that NT gives similar yields to CT when received AN, but needs higher rate of PL application to achieve similar yields to CT.  相似文献

Field trials were conducted to determine the potential use of thiacloprid for integrated Meloidogyne incognita and Bemisia tabaci B biotype control in cucumber (Cucumis sativus Linn.) in China. The following five treatments were evaluated: three thiacloprid doses (7.5, 15, and 30 kg ha1), an avermectin treatment (7.5 L ha1) and an untreated control. All thiacloprid application rates were effective for reducing the M. incognita and B. tabaci B biotype populations. M. incognita was reduced by 51.0%∼86.7% on 60th day and B. tabaci B biotype was reduced by about 37.2%∼95.3% within 21 days, respectively. In addition, greater thiacloprid doses resulted in fewer nematodes and whiteflies. Over two successive years, the cucumber plants that were treated with thiacloprid at a dose of 15 kg ha1 had the greatest plant height, plant vigor and marketable yield, which were 134.1 cm, 91, 1514.3 g plant1, respectively in 2010–2011 and 151.9 cm, 93, 1651.4 g plant1, respectively in 2011–2012. In addition, thiacloprid was superior to avermectin. The results of this study demonstrated that thiacloprid could be used in cucumber production for the integrated control of M. incognita and B. tabaci B biotype. Furthermore, a dose of 15 kg ha1 of thiacloprid was recommended for controlling nematode and whitefly populations according to the control effect and marketable cucumber yield.  相似文献

A growing number of soybean producers have begun to incorporate below threshold fungicide and insecticide treatments into their management programs in attempts to increase yield. The objective of this study was to determine the influence of a fungicide and insecticide on soybean yield and growth when disease and insect pressure is minimal. Soybean was planted at three locations across Indiana, USA, in 2009 and 2010 and treated with various combinations of glyphosate, pyraclostrobin, and lambda-cyhalothrin. Yield was increased by 100 kg ha−1 and 150 kg ha−1 by a R4 application of pyraclostrobin alone and by lambda-cyhalothrin alone, respectively. Seed mass was increased 3% by pyraclostrobin, while seed number m−2 was increased 5% by lambda-cyhalothrin. No other yield component was influenced by the fungicide or insecticide. Economic analysis using Simulation and Econometrics to Analyze Risk (SIMETAR) demonstrated a single, post application of glyphosate to be the most efficient treatment option across a range of risk attitudes. This study indicates that yield increases are possible using below threshold applications of fungicides and insecticides. However, growers may not benefit from such applications if input costs are higher than the economic returns of the increased yield.  相似文献

Replicated field trials were conducted to determine the effect of 1,3-dichloropropene (1,3-D) as a potential alternative for methyl bromide (MeBr) in tomato–cucumber rotations in two successive cropping seasons in China. Fumigation with MeBr (400 kg ha−1), three 1,3-D doses (180, 120 and 90 l ha−1), an avermectin dose (187.5 g ha−1) and an untreated control were compared. Tomato data revealed that MeBr was generally superior to the treatments involving 1,3-D and avermectin, which in turn were superior to the control, for improving tomato crop yield and inhibiting Meloidogyne incognita, weeds and mortality caused by plant disease. In a successive cucumber crop, all fumigants tested except avermectin, showed significant continual influence in the same plots. In most cases, the highest 1,3-D dose was comparable to MeBr. Overall, in both growth seasons, 1,3-D at the dose of 180 l ha−1 was as effective as MeBr in increasing plant height, yield and in reducing the incidence of soil borne disease, especially in maintaining excellent M. incognita control, but it provided only moderate control of weeds. On the basis of these results, combining 1,3-D with other alternatives to MeBr, is recommended for satisfactory control of soil pests in tomato–cucumber rotations in China.  相似文献

Finnish N fertilizer application regulations for forage grasses are based on field experiments mainly conducted in the 1960–1970s with cultivars and management practices typical of the time. In order to update the yield response function of N, to make it better suited to current grassland farming, field experiments were conducted at two sites in 2015–2017 with two cultivars of timothy (Phleum pratense L.) and one of meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis Huds.). Dry matter (DM) yield, nutritive value and N balance were evaluated, with N application levels 0, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400 and 450 kg N ha−1 year−1. The grasses were harvested three times per season. The data indicate that the DM yield response was significantly stronger, and N was used more efficiently for DM production than earlier without compromising the nutritive value, especially during the first two years. The third harvest produced on average 23% of the annual yield, utilizing N efficiently. N application rates below 350 kg N ha−1 year−1 did not cause substantial overwintering losses or lodging. The data indicate that with changing climate and improved cultivars and management practices, there is a need to modify the rates and timing of N application. The results suggest that N application levels could be increased by at least 50 kg N ha−1 year−1 from the current maximum accepted rate (250 kg N ha−1 year−1) without too high NO3- or CP concentrations in feed, or too high N balance that indicates increasing risk of N leaching.  相似文献

Wide variation (>10.28 times) of fish yield (Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758) was obtained in a trial arranged in concrete cisterns (100 l) receiving compost (T-2), Diammonium phosphate (=DAP) (T-3) and vermicompost (T-4) as direct application fertilizer and manure in those systems. Significant (< 0.005) differences were observed in diversity and abundance of plankton in response to manure application among treatments. Highest phyto- and zooplankton population was found in the cistern treated with vermicompost followed by DAP, compost and control. In all the treatments dry weight and population of both phyto- and zooplankton population were significantly (< 0.005) higher than control. The highest production of fish was obtained in the cisterns treated with vermicompost (3,970.56 kg ha−1 90 day−1), followed by diammonium phosphate (3,080.45 kg ha−1 90 day−1), compost (1,952.64 kg ha−1 90 day−1) and the lowest in the control (385.92 kg ha−1 90 day−1). Vermicompost might be cost-effective manure in carp culture, replacing the expensive chemical fertilizer diammonium phosphate.  相似文献

Experiments at two sites during two years evaluated the selectivity of preemergence fomesafen in cucurbit crops of winter and summer squash, zucchini, cantaloupe, cucumber, and pumpkin. Cucumbers were the most sensitive of the cucurbit crops to fomesafen and produced little or no fruit in two out of three experiments when applied at 0.28 kg ai ha−1. Fomesafen also reduced cantaloupe yield. Visual damage was noted on the other crops tested, but crop yield was not impacted by fomesafen at 0.28–0.35 kg ai ha−1. With the exception of cucumbers, injury caused by fomesafen to cucurbit crops was transitory even when fomesafen-treated soil splashed onto the leaves of emerging cucurbits during a powerful thunderstorm at one of the test sites. Control of redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus), Powell amaranth (Amaranthus powellii) and other Amaranthus spp., lambsquarters (Chenopodium album), hairy nightshade (Solanum physafolium), common purslane (Portulaca oleraceae), and velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrastii) ranged from 92 to 100% with fomesafen applied at 0.28 kg ai ha−1. The excellent efficacy on these difficult to control weed species suggests that lower rates of fomesafen may be appropriate and improve crop tolerance, particularly if fomesafen is tankmix-applied with other preemergence herbicides such as s-metolachlor or dimethenamid-p. Weed control with these combinations was excellent for all weed species in these experiments.  相似文献

Direct-seeded rice systems are increasing in Asia as farmers respond to the high labor cost and shortage of water. Echinochloa crus-galli is one of the most problematic and competitive weeds in direct-seeded rice systems. Because of concerns about excessive herbicide use, there is an interest in developing cultural weed management strategies. However, the design of such strategies requires a better understanding of the weed response to crop density, nutrition, and water regime. A study was therefore conducted in pots to determine the effect of water (flooded and aerobic), nitrogen (N) fertilization (0, 100, and 200 kg N ha−1), and rice density [0, 4 rice plants (≈20 kg seed ha−1), and 16 rice plants (≈80 kg seed ha−1)] on the growth and reproduction of E. crus-galli. When grown alone, the growth and seed production of E. crus-galli were higher in flooded conditions than in aerobic conditions. However, no such differences were observed when E. crus-galli was grown with rice interference. E. crus-galli growth and seed production increased with increases in N rate. Irrespective of water regime and N rate, the growth and seed production of E. crus-galli declined with increases in rice density. At 100 kg N ha−1, for example, E. crus-galli shoot biomass and seed production decreased by 84–86% and 82–87%, respectively, when grown with 16 rice plants compared with its growth without rice interference. The results suggest that growth and seed production of E. crus-galli can be greatly reduced by increasing rice seeding rate. However, there is a need to involve other weed management strategies to achieve complete control of E. crus-galli and other weed species.  相似文献

During the 2006/07 and 2008/09 growing seasons in Southern Brazil, we evaluated crop selectivity and weed control efficacy of clomazone on rice when applied alone or in a mixture with other pre- and post-emergence herbicides (BRS Querência variety). All herbicide treatments caused some degree of rice injury during both years; however, in no case was the injury still visible 21 days after application. Rice injuries were observed when application rates exceeded the recommended dose, and particularly when the herbicide was applied pre-emergence. Density reduction and panicle sterility served as measures of rice injury. Echinochloa crus-galli was the primary weed; it reduced rice yields by approximately 50% compared treated plots. In both growing seasons, clomazone herbicide (400 g ai ha−1) controlled the weed 87.0%–99.6%, and it provided 8.06 t ha−1 to 9.44 t ha−1 of rice yield.  相似文献
