Abstract:Methane (CH4) emissions from stored slurry were successfully measured by a micrometeorological mass balance technique. Emissions during autumn to late winter ranged from 2 to 100kgCH4-Cha–1day–1. Diurnal variations of CH4 emissions were investigated by measuring emissions at several times during the day, correlated with slurry temperatures at 10cm depth and successfully modelled with the Arrhenius equation.
