图书馆老旧文献问题处理研究

结合华中科技大学图书馆1975年以前的文献分布状况,对馆藏老旧文献现状进行了分析,一方面,由于累积起来的老旧文献数量多,占地面积大,利用率低,需要进行处理;另一方面,每个时代的文献都有其时代特点,老旧文献仍有存在的价值,不能简单地撤除或注销。对此,在提出这些老旧文献处理必然性的基础上,探讨其解决办法,为妥善处理图书馆老旧文献、保障高校教学与科研文献信息服务提供有效途径。

Study on the Treatment of Old Books in Libraries

This paper analyzes the status of old books in libraries,based on the distribution of references before 1975 stored in the library of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.Because the large quantities of accumulative old books occupy much area but provide low utilization rate,it is necessary to treat these old books.On the other hand,each period of reference has its own time characteristics,many old books still have their existing values and thus they should not be simply removed or destroyed.This paper discusses the necessity of treating old books and proposes some resolvents,which could provide effective approaches to the appropriate treatment of old books in libraries and guarantee of reference services for education and scientific research in universities.
