Abstract:Alternative splicing refers to the process of producing different mRNA splicing isomers from one mRNA precursor by different splicing types.Consequently,the final proteins translated from the different mRNA splicing isomers show different or antagonistic functional and structural characteristics.It is an essential mechanism to increase protein diversity in higher eukaryotes and plays an important role in tissue development and diseases.The splicing process is regulated by many factors,among which epigenetics is an important factor.Many studies have revealed that a variety of epigenetic modifications plays an important role in regulating alternative splicing.Alternative splicing also plays an indispensable role in adipocyte differentiation and lipid metabolism.Here,we briefly review the regulation of epigenetic modification on alternative splicing and its research progress in regulation of lipid metabolism.This article could provide reference for the further study of alternative splicing.
