Abstract: | Quasi-crystals and quasi-crystalline states of matter are a new field of research in solid-state physics. In this respect, the use of highly localized analytic methods making it possible to study the processes on the solid phase surface seems to be very promising. The interaction of soluble salts with clay minerals was studied by electron microscopy. It was found that changes in the hydrosorptive parameters of kaolinite and smectite upon their saturation with soluble salts is related not only to the influence of the residual amounts of salts but also to the transformation of the mineral particles’ structural arrangement and the formation of quasi-crystals. |
