Germination,growth and starch breakdown in Cl3 Fe pretreated pea and barley seeds

Abstract:Pea and barley seeds were soaked for 3 hours in Cl3Fe solutions of 0, 50, 500, 2500 and 5000 ppm of iron. The influence of this pretreatment on germination, seedlings growth and starch breakdown was subsequently determined. These results were related to the capacity of iron accumulation in seeds and it subsequent transport to the seedlings.
