Soil Erosion in Coal Mine Area of China and Its Prevention Counter-measures

Coal mining destroyed a large amount of land in China.A great deal of solid waste materials brought about by coal mining were piled up on land surface,which destroyed 130~200 km2 of land area every year and caused severe environment pollution. Coal mining in Western and Northern areas of China also sharpened the process of land desertification. The main measures for preventing soil erosion in coal mining area in China were land recovery and afforestation.The key point of afforestation was suitable selection of plant variety,scientific planting technique and rational management way.
