Abstract: | Cultivated land is the most basic resource for agricultural production, and quality of the cultivated land directly affects the sustainable development of agricultural production. In this paper, taking Hangzhou district of Zhejiang Province as an example, GIS technology was applied to evaluate the quality of cultivated land with area of 176128 hm2 by constructing a mathematical model. Survey data obtained from soil testing and formula fertilization project, and basic information of landform and irrigation and water conservancy facilities were used as factors for evaluating the quality of cultivated land. The results showed that quality of Hangzhou district’s cultivated land could be divided into three grades and five levels. The areas of the first, second and third grades of the land accounted for 21.8%, 76.9% and 1.3% of the total area, respectively. The areas of the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth levels of the land accounted for 0.8%, 21.1%, 52.6%, 24.3% and 1.3% of the total area, respectively. The overall quality of cultivated land in Hangzhou district belong the middle and upper level. Evaluation of cultivated land grade distribution using GIS technology is consistent with the actual situation. It is suggested that the GIS technology is a feasible method for evaluating the cultivated land productivity. Production performance and management countermeasures of different levels of the cultivated land are also discussed. |
