Discussion on the Development of Breeding Process and the Future Breeding Target of China's Maize

Over half a century,utilization of heterosis has played a crucial role in increasing maize yield.However,with the development of economy and the improving of people＇s living standards,we urgently need to further improve yield and quality of maize.Zhengdan958,widely planted in the south of china,is a high yield and good quality variety.In recent years,the introduction of foreign maize varieties,such as Xianyu335,has brought new challenges to China＇s maize breeders.How to adjust breeding idea,breeding methods and breeding objectives have received extensive attention.This article made a preliminary analysis of the future objectives of maize breeding.We hope that the article will give fraternity some reference.
