湖南优越的地理环境和历代人民的精心养护,保存了一批具有珍贵科学及观赏价值的古树名木。据调查100年以上古树名木有102831株,为古树名木资源的保护、科研及开发利用奠定了基础。

And there are 102831 famous aged-trees, which are more than 100y ears olda ccording to the archive data in Hunan Province, they belong to 65 family, 164 genus and 322 species. There are 989 trees are more than 500 years old, which occupy 0.96%; there are 5745 trees are 300-499 years old, which occupy 5. 59%; there are 96097 trees are 100-299 years old, which occupy 93.45% in those aged-trees.A nd aboutm ore than 95% trees distribute in the cities, towns, villages, scenic spots and forest parks. They are the basic of protection, research, exploitation and utilization for the famous aged-trees. But inr ecent years the problemo n illegally transplant of aged-trees is always very grisliness with the rise of bigt ree from city to town in afforestation area.
