Abstract:5 chickens of 1-day-old vaccinated with HTV and 10 1-day-old unvaccinated chickens were inoculated with Marek's disease virus (MDV) strain Beijing-1(BJ-1) at 15 days of age,respectively.During 14~70 days post-inoculation(PI), MDV antigen and/or antibody in the feather follicle and blood were monitored by agar-gel precipitation (AGP) assay.The results showed that the antibody was identified in the feather-pulp of chickens challenged at 49 days PI and vaccinated challenged at 30 days PI.Growth and decline of the antibody were positively related with that of blood while the activity of the antigens was negatively related with that of the antibody in the feather follicle. However, MDV DNA were always identified by dot-blot hybridization in the feather tips with activity of the antibody.
