| Abstract: | A Standardbred mare presented with a 3-year history of stranguria and pollakiuria. Urethral spasm was detected by transrectal and digital examination. Ancillary diagnostic tests revealed no abnormal findings. The mare recovered after a 1-month treatment with acepromazine. Similar cases and responses to treatment have not been reported before in horses. |
