Suppressive effects of N-triacontanol on symptoms of mulberry dwarf disease and on the causal phytoplasma

N-triacontanol (TRIA) was applied over a period of 1 year to dwarf mulberry plants ( Morus alba ) with symptoms caused by mulberry dwarf phytoplasma. The treated plants recovered, and symptoms of the disease did not reappear for at least 3 years. Over this period, light-microscope UV fluorescence tests using berberine sulphate failed to detect phytoplasmas in the phloem of young shoots from the treated plants.
