| Abstract: | Pili from 69 avian isolates of Escherichia coli from six diagnostic laboratories in the United States were characterized. Three new pilus types were identified in addition to the three types previously described. A majority of the E. coli isolates (53.6%) examined expressed the classical type 1 pili. |
