Abstract:The chromosome number of Vactinium species in Northeast China was studied. The diploid and. the tetraploid bog bilberries ( Vactinium uliginosum L, ) were discovered both in the Changbai Mountain region1-and the Greater Xingan Mountain regions. In the Changbai Mountain regions,they are distributed at different altitudes based on their ploidy, and in the Greater Xingan Mountain regions, the Bog bilberry is a mixed population of diploid and tetraploid.In the Greater Xingan Mountain regions, the cowberry ( Vaccinium vitis-idaea L, ) is also a mixed population of diploid and tetraploid , the tetraploid cowberry being recorded for the first time.The species,Vaccinium vitis-idaea L.,is preliminarily affirmed to be a tetraploid.In the Changbai Mountain regions,the newly recorded cranberry species, hexaploid cranberry ( Vaccinium hage-rupii (L.&L.) Ahokas ) , was discovered in China.
