A review of research on biomechanical properties of spheroid fruits
Abstract:In the process of collection, transportation, processing, and storage, agricultural products are inevitably subjected to various external loads and damage. Therefore, a comprehensive and in depth understanding of the biomechanical properties of agricultural products is of great significance to the development and progress of modern agriculture. Although scholars at home and abroad have done a great number of research on the biomechanical properties of fruits, there is no research review on the biomechanical properties of spheroid fruits. In order to understand the biomechanical properties of spheroid fruits in depth, this paper summarized the research methods of fruit mechanical properties, focusing on the research status and progress in three aspects: fruit compression mechanical properties, peel tensile mechanical properties, and fruit impact mechanical properties. The effects of fruit storage time, storage temperature, and fruit maturity on its mechanical properties were analyzed, and the general rules of fruit mechanical properties changing with influencing factors were obtained. Through the analysis of research progress, the development trend of fruit biomechanical properties was pointed out. The summarized research directions and solutions can be used to study the biomechanical properties of various spheroid agricultural products in the future, which is the purpose of this article.
