Abstract:Differential diagnoses for hyponatremia with concurrent hyperkalemia should include hypoadrenocorticism. Renal failure, chylothorax, and gastrointestinal tract disorders may also cause abnormally low serum sodium:potassium ratios. The ACTH stimulation test is the gold standard for diagnosis of hypoadrenocorticism.
