| Abstract: | Objective To study the change of serum procalcitonin（PCT） and soluble intercelluar adhesion molecule-1（sICAM-1） levels in neonatal septicemia.Methods Serum contents of sICAM-1 and PCT in 56 septicemic neonates（positive hemoculture,30 cases;negative,26 cases） and 25 normal newborns were detected by ELISA and chemiluminescence,respectively.Their critical scores were also recorded.Results Serum levels of sICAM-1 and PCT were significantly higher in septicemic group than those in control group（P0.01）,especially in patients with positive hemoculture.Serum levels of sICAM-1 and PCT were negatively correlated with the critical scores（r=-0.778,P0.01;r=-0.851,P0.01）.Conclusion PCT and sICAM-1 are valuable predictors for early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis. |
