Abstract:Studies on the biology of Melanagromyza sojae (Zehntner) (Diptera, Agromyzidae) and its incidence of infestation on five cultivated pulse crops in and around Agra, India The incidence of infestation byMelanagromyza sojae was as high als 74.5% onGlycine max (Soya bean), 61.8% onPhaseolus mungo, 22.8% onPh. radiatus, 4.5% inVigna catiang and 1.7% onPh. calcaratus. Dates on the bionomy and the life cycle of the pest are given. The larvae of the three generations feed in tunnels within the cortical region in different levels of the stem. The secondary and tertiary infestation are always more destructive than the primary one. In majority of the cases of the tertiary infestation. Incidence of parasitism of species of Hymenopterous parasites belonging to three families are also recorded.
