Some demographic characteristics of the domestic cat population in Great Britain with particular reference to feeding habits and the incidence of the Feline Urological Syndrome

The results are presented of a survey of 5, 669 domestic cats in Great Britain and the data used to define some of the normal demographic characteristics of the cat population with particular reference to feeding habits. An analysis of cats visiting a veterinary surgeon is given, and an incidence of between 0-34 and 0-55 % for the Feline Urological Syndrome in the total population at risk is suggested. The total cat population in Great Britain is calculated as 3-3 million.
