Abstract:The feeding behaviors of Toxoptera citricida (Kirkaldy) on the CTV-infected (severe CTV isolate CTV14 and mild CTV isolate CTV11) and the health Citrus unshiu Marc. plants by electrical penetration graph (EPG). The results showed that there were hardly any difference in EPG parameters between the two infected plants, but the infected plants had significant difference than healthy plants. The number of probes and np, the total duration of E2 on healthy plants were less than the two infected plants. Otherwise the duration of 1st probe and G, the time from 1st probe to 1st E and the time from start of EPG to 1st E2 were longer. It was inferred that the infected plants can strength the feeding behavior of aphids, especially prefer ingestion in CTV-plants phloem, so the probability of virus acquisition would be enhanced when T. citricida fed on CTV-infected plants.
