Abstract:The sensitivity and specificity of kidney biopsy were 93 and 88%, respectively, for detecting Yersinia ruckeri infection in rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri). There was no statistically significant difference between results obtained by kidney biopsy and those obtained by necropsy, the standard method for isolation of this agent from the kidney. One hundred percent of conscious fish that were tested survived the procedure.
