Russian Libraries in the Time of Transition

ABSTRACT

Russian librarianship is going through an exciting period of change from the world of tight party control and service to the official propaganda to the world of free access to information. However, the new initiatives are not necessarily always supported financially. Issues facing Russian librarianship at present are analyzed by an ALA/USIA Library Fellow.
