THE IMPACTS OF HUMAN ACTIVITIES ON AFRICAN VEGETATION

Of all elements of the physical environment, vegetation is possibly themost vulnerable to change by human activities. Under the enormous pressureof African population with rapid and continued growth, its vegetationtoday is deteriorating at an unprecedented speed. In Africa the main sabotagedestructive activities are clear cut, burning and overgrazing. In the paper,the impacts of fire, deforestation, cultivation, livestocks and wild animalson the vegetation are expounded respectively. Ideas for African vegetationprotection are also explained.
