| Abstract: | Comparison of yields and growth of cocoa in whole plots with those from guarded core plots showed that the advantage gained in increasing precision by using more trees often outweighed the disadvantage from effects attributable to inter-progeny competition. However, this was not the case in a trial where there were no external guard trees. |
