Abstract: | Summary The size of gangrene lesions on potato tubers was significantly affected by isolate ofPhoma exigua var.foveata and cultivar. Inoculation methods based on the introduction of a wheat-germ/sand culture into the peripheral tissues of the tuber revealed greater differences among isolates and cultivars than one involving a deeper insertion of a mycelium/potato dextrose agar plug. The method of testing influenced the order of ranking of certain isolates and cultivars. The relative pathogenicity of isolates was similar over two years, but no cultivar-isolate interactions were found. |
