REVIEW ON METHODS AND PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING PROGENIES OF SOYBEAN CROSSES

Methods and procedures for handling progenies of soybean crosses is extremely critical for the efficiency as Well as achievement of soybean breeding. Such methods and procedures are established on the foundation of soybean ge netics, physiology, and soybean scology. In Some advanced foreign countries, renewed methods and procedures for handing progenies of soybean crosses have been used in soybean breeding work for a long time. For the purpose of to promote soybean breeding work in our country, we must pay our utmost attention on the study of this problem and on the reformation of the methods and procedures now being used in our country. In this review discussions of the fundamental principles of genetics, physio-logy and scology about such methods and procedures are made. We also made a brief reuiew of some literatures dealing with the fundamental stud about thiproblem. Basides these, the following methods and procedures are recommended: mass selection method; pedigree selection method; bulking method; early-gene-ration testing method; single-seed desent method backcrossing method; recurrent selection method. The advantage and disadvantage among these methods are also discussed and compared.
