Abstract:Differential scanning calorimetry ( D. S. C. ) and electron spin resonance (E. S. R. ) experiments were carried out to examine the effect of the polymyxin B ( PL B ) on the phase separation and Change order of the fatty acid chains of dipalmitoylpho sphatidic acid ( DPPA ) , dipalmitoylphosphatidylglycerol ( DPPG ) and dipalmitoylpho sphatidylcholine (DPPC). It is shown that in both DPPA and DPPG alone or DPPA/DPPC and DPPG/DPPC mix lures, PL B can induce phase separation and interdigitation bilayer in the gel state. But PL B can not induce changes in pure Dppc.
