Effect of kinetin and morphactin on growth pattern of Solanum tuberosum L. leaves

Summary Kinetin and morphactin changed the growth pattern of the top leaves ofSolanum tuberosum L. to a form similar to that normally found at the basal nodes of this plant. The size of leaflets was reduced and the rachis developed lateral extensions resulting in the formation of simple leaf-like structures in place of the pinnately compound leaves produced by water-treated plants. The significance of these induced effects is discussed.
