Abstract: | Contents The distribution of succinate dehydrogenase, NAD specific isocitrate dehydrogenase, lactate dehydrogenase, α-glycerolphosphate dehydrogenase, alcohol dehydrogenase, β-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, NADH-tetrazolium reductase, NADPH-tetrazolium reductase und cytochrome oxydase in the surface epithelium and the glands of the bovine endometrium was studied by histochemical means. Discussing the findings obtained two points are emphasized: 1. The relatively high activity of the α-glycerolphosphate dehydrogenase and its possible significance for endometrial metabolism. 2. Surprisingly, the principal site of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase in the bovine endometrium during the 20.—1. days of the estrous cycle was in the terminal parts of the uterine glands, an area which according to the normal histology seems to undergo a period of rest. |
