Discussion on the Differences between RHDV2 and CRHDV

Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus type 2(RHDV2),a new rabbit hemorrhagic disease(nRHD)virus,has been prevalent all over the world and appeared in China,posing a great threat to rabbit industry.In order to identify the similarities and differences between RHDV2 and classic rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus(CRHDV),relevant studies concerning the two pathogens were reviewed from the aspects of etiology,epidemiology,clinical symptoms,pathogenesis,its diagnosis,prevention and control.It was found that RHDV2 and CRHDV were far with each other in relationship,their antigenic epitopes were also significantly different,and fell into different virus branches;CRHDV mainly infected adult rabbits with acute symptoms,while RHDV2 was inclined to various species of rabbits at different ages with sub-acute and chronic symptoms.Presently,the study on detection and vaccination against RHDV2 was relatively lagged behind.Considering the weak cross immunity between RHDV2 and CRHDV as well as large gap in immunization,the study on the structure and function of RHDV2 should be strengthened to speed up development of vaccines,and suspicious cases should be disposed properly,epidemiological investigation should be carried out,so as to report the status of any outbreak in China in time.Thus,some references were provided to prevent and control rabbit hemorrhagic disease(RHD)in China.
