EFFECT OF DIFFERENT STORE CONDITIONS AND MEANS ON SEED VIGOUR IN WHEAT

Vigour of wheat seeds was tested after they were stored by different manners in acommon storehouse and a cave-storehouse for 2 years. The results indicated thatstore conditions and manners affected the vigour of seeds obviously, and their interreactionwas significant. The seeds in cloth-bags absorbed moisture and resulted in reducing vigourdue to higher humidity in a cave-storehouse. But vigour of the seeds stored in airtight plas-tic-bags was kept better, therefore, superiority of a cave-storehouse with lower tempera-ture could be brought into full play. Although temperature changed greatly, and humiditywas lower in a common storehouse, the seeds in cloth-bags were slightly safer than onesin a cave-storehouse. The seeds in cloth-bags were worse than those in plastic-bags. It isconcluded that storing wheat seeds airtightly and semi-airtightly in plastic-bags is thebest manners.
