| Abstract: | The near isogenic lines were used for evaluating the effects of okra leaf shape on some important characters of cotton cultivars (G. hirsutum L. ) in Wuhan in 1984. The results indicated that the okra leaf shape had no significant effect on yield or other characters studied, but significantly increased fiber fineness. The effects of okra leaf shape on fiber length and strength were different in two genetic backgrounds. The okra leaf shape was associated with a reduction in the percentage of seeds damaged by Pink Bollworm ( PBW ) ( Pectinophora gossypiella Saund. ) in the first and second harvest date. The green boll percentages holed by PBW were different in two genetic backgrounds and two screening conditions. |
