Research progress on environmental characteristics of bamboo materials and its products

The living quality of indoor environment has a direct impact on human daily life and human survival and health.More and more attention has been paid to the research of living environments.Wood has long been used to decorate the indoor situation,in order to improve the comfort of living environments.With the continual development of economy and the increasing scarcity of wood resources,bamboo has been used as a substitute for wood due to its rich resources and rapid growth.Recently,bamboo has been widely used in the construction,home furnishing,interior decoration and other living environments.The impact of bamboo on the home environment is increasingly significant.It is of great significance to study the environmental characteristics of the bamboo material and its products for the improvement of human life and health.Based on the relationship between bamboo materials and products and the living environment,this review explained the superior environmental characteristics of the bamboo material and products from the aspects of their three sensory environmental characteristics,which including the visual characteristic,haptic characteristic and audition characteristic,their regulating effect on indoor environments and their influence on biology especially human beings,etc.In addition,the future research direction of bamboo material environmental characteristics was forecasted.Based on the analysis of the research situation,it was expected that,in the future,the correlation between structure and environmental characteristics should be explored to guide the structural design of bamboo products,and the relevant models of physical and psychological quantities of bamboo products would be developed.The study of the environmental characteristics of bamboo materials and bamboo products should be focused on the physiological and psychological effects on the action mechanism of organisms,especially on the human body to find a suitable indoor living environment scheme for human sustainable development.By constantly expanding the research connotation of wood environmental science,and constantly mining and playing the friendly environmental characteristics of bamboo and wood,this study can provide a scientific basis for human better quality of life.
