分析2002年《华南热带农业大学学报》的信息密度及其对年直接费用支出的影响。结果表明：其信息密度较小。每条科技信息传递的费用较高。提出编辑部应自行排版以更合理设计版面，加强编辑人员的培训以提高编辑技能。建议刊物信息密度控制在0.25篇／页。

An Analysis of Data Density and Economic Operation in Journal of South China University of Tropical Agriculture

Data density and its effect on the annual direct cost for the 2002 issues of Journal of South China University of Tropical Agriculture are analyzed, showing that the journal contains a lower data density and costs more than reasonable for the conveyance of each piece of technology data. Journal editors are proposed to undertake the typesetting work to enhance the efficiency of the layout, and the editors should be provided with professional training to improve editing skills. The paper also suggests that the data density for each issue should be kept within the range of 0.25 articles each page.
