Abstract:Seeds of 4 late, japonica lines of Hubei photoperiod sencitive genic male-sterilerice (HPGMR) were propagated by regenerated seeds of the plants growing in earlygrowth season in Wuhan, by plants growing in late season in Wuhan and by plantsgrowing in winter-spring in lingshui county Hainan province, respectively. When thepropagated seeds were sowed on the same day in early season in Wuhan, the plants ofthe 4 HPGMR from different origins were sterile, with rates of sterile plants reachedto 1OO% and average seed sterility by bagging and pollen sterility above 99.5%, resp-ectively. When sowed in late season in Wuhan or grown in winter-spring in Lingshui,the plants turned to fertile apparently, with rates of fertile plants reached to 100%and average rates of natural seed setting above 30%, respectively. Both advantages anddisadvantages of the seed propagations of HPGMR under 3 types of ecological conditionswere discussed.
