亚太地区的林业在全球林业中的位置变得日益重要。在这个人口众多的区域,林业正发挥着它在经济、社会和生态诸方面的多功能作用。但是,本地区的林业正面临着严峻的挑战,例如,人口的增加所带来的对薪材需求的扩大;林地向农田急剧转化;以及某些国家林业生产萎缩的现象。据此,人们需要做出今后十几年的战略选择。首先应制止森林面积减少的趋势,同时大力营造人工林。最重要的是加强林业与其它经济部门之间的联系,使之成为社会经济综合发展的一个支柱。

Forestry Situation and Strategic Alternatives in Asia-Pacific Region

Foresty in the Asia and Pacific Region is getting more and more important in the world. In this populous region, forestry is functioning in a multi-purpose way, socio-economically and ecologically. However, the forestry in this region is confronted with a number of severe challenges, for instance, the increased demand for fuel wood as a result of the growing population, radical shift in land use pattern from forest to food crops, and shrinking of wood industry in some countries. Therefore there is a need to identify alternatives of strategy for the next 10 years or so. Firstly, the tendency of deforestation should be halted.In the meantime, large efforts should be made in planting trees, The most important of all is to strengthen the linkages of forestry with other sectors of economy, making forestry one of the principal pillars of the integrated socio-economic development.
