Abstract: | Persistance of atrazine and its metabolites in soil after a single herbicide application The breakdown of atrazine in soil was investigated under field conditions. In spring 1973 the soil was treated with 14C ringlabeled atrazine. In summer 1981 soil samples were collected and analysed. The investigated soil still contained about 83% from the initial 14C activity. From this only 40% could be extracted. Besides traces of atrazine were further identified six metabolites which originated from the parent compound through N-dealkylation and hydrolysis. |
