Abstract:The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of different metabolizable energy(ME)levels on physiological status,reproductive performance and serum biochemical indices of pregnant and lactating sows.A total of 60 first-parry binary sows with an average body weight of(131.96±0.52)kg at 28 days of gestation were randomly divided into 3 groups with 4 replicates per group and 5 sows per replicate.Pregaining sows in T1-T3 groups were fed diets with ME levels of 3150,3250 and 3350 kcal/kg,respectively,and the same diet with ME of 3300 kcal/kg and crude protein of 17.5%during the whole lactation period after gestation.RESULTS:Compared with T1 and T2 groups,the body weight change of sows in T3 group at 110 days of gestation was significantly increased by 9.69%and 9.74%(P<0.05),while the backfat thickness change of sows in T3 group was significantly increased by 89.67%and 112.63%(P<0.05),respectively.The body weight change of sows in T3 group during lactation period was significantly decreased by 197.87%and 221.43%compared with T1 and T2 groups(P<0.05),respectively.Compared with T3 group,the stillbirth number in T1 group was significantly increased by 56.25%(P<0.05),the weaning number in T3 group was significantly increased by 10.38%and 6.95%(P<0.05)compared with T1 and T2 groups,respectively,and the weaning litter weight in T3 group was significantly increased by 11.82%and 10.48%compared with T1 and T2 groups,respectively(P<0.05).There were no significant effects on serum glucose,urea nitrogen,triglyceride and creatinine concentrations of sows fed different ME diets on day 1 before delivery and at weaning(P>0.05).Conclusions:When the ME level of pregnant sows is 3350 kcal/kg and the crude protein level is 13%,the body weight and backfat thickness of pregnant sows can be increased,the number of weaned piglets of Suckling sows can be increased,and the number of stillbirth can be decreased.
