Abstract: | Serial sections of an immature female Latimeria brain were studied to describe the octavolateral area. Sections were stained with cresyl violet (for cell bodies) and with Klüver-Barrera method for myelinated fibers. The presence of a well-developed dorsal nucleus of the octavolateral area suggests that Latimeria probably possesses the electroceptive capacity with ampullary organs. |
