Abstract:Dermoptera insects are a group of important predatory insects in central region of Henan Province and show a high application potential in the development of pollution-free agriculture. In this study, morphology and ultrastructure of antennal sensilla of Labidura riparia Pallas were observed with scanning electron microscope. Our results showed that the antenna of female and male adult of L. riparia is filamentous and composes of scapus, pedicel and flagella. The flagellum consists of 26 and 30 segments in female and male adults, respectively. There are 8 types of antennal sensilla in the antenna of female and male adult, i.e., trichode, chaeticum, gemmiformium, squamiformia, styloconica, BÖhm bristles, ampullaceum, and cavitata-peg. The types and numbers of sensilla differ between subunits of antenna. The sensilla on flagella are much more abundant than on scapus and pedicel. The sensilla types and numbers on male antenna are much more than those on female antenna. Sensilla gemmiformium is specific to the male adult.
